On last night's edition of MSNBC's "The Ed Show," Ed Schultz and his guest "exposed" a shocking scandal: the National Republican Congressional Committee is harrassing doctors and placing their names on ads opposing Democratic health care reform against their will. An NRCC group called the Physicians Council for Responsible Reform, they claimed, is listing random physicians on their propaganda without their knowledge or consent, "because they want to deceive the public." In typical MSNBC/Ed Schultz “reporting” style, it is a false smear designed to discredit the physicians who oppose ObamaCare, which can be arrived at only by ignoring the facts and inverting the evidence its own segment presents.
Schultz interviewed Dr. Barry Kaufman, an Indiana ophthamologist who said he received a FAX asking him to help finance the PCRR's ad against socialized medicine. It also asked for permission to add his name to an advertisement opposing socialized medicine. Schultz said callers to his radio show were surprised to learn this was run by the Republican Party, although the FAX in question (which he showed in a full-screen shot) and the bottom of the PCRR webpage (in all caps) states clearly: “PAID FOR BY THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE.”
Dr. Kaufman insisted after receiving the FAX, “I had to call a number, an 800 number, to approve or disapprove of having my name in this advertisement.” This is false for numerous reasons. The most obvious is seen by zooming in on the screen print of Kaufman's FAX itself, where we see:

“The Ed Show”?
I thought they cancelled Mr. Ed when the horse died.
I am shocked the GOP is actually starting to act like it opposes a government take over of health care. That is the only ‘shocking’ thing I find in this story.
Who is this, “Ed” you speak of? I am not familiar. Should I be?
You are confusing your Ed's. This one talks out of his a$$.
Over half the doctors in this country will retire if Obamacare is implemented!....THAT’S WHAT THESE DAMN FOOLS SHOULD BE REPORTING!
He knows nothing, nothing.

This should be Big Eddie’s official avatar.
Hey Ed! How’s the dog?
Ed Schultz is a joke. He pillories Sarah Palin but in reality hes just a man jealous that shes a much better marksman than he is. Eddies a big hunter but, Sarah Palin never accidentally shot her own hunting dog. Yes, back in that late 80s Ed shot his own hunting dog.
Im from Fargo (where Ed is based) Ed was the Voice of the Bison on a local radio station in the late 80s; he did the play-by-play for the NDSU Bison football team. I was in the student section at each home game where one of our favorite chants was Ed shot his dog. Ed shot his dog etc. The announcers booth was right behind the student section and he had no problem hearing us and it used to send him into a rage. Hes not very respected in his home market, if he didnt have his national show, hed be out of a job.

Didn’t he do some strange station-shifting in Fargo, then dropped out of the market completely?
Thanks for sharing. This is the first I heard about the dog incident. It puts his incessant carping on Cheney (whom he calls “Shooter”) into perspective, doesn’t it?
