Are We Witnessing the Collapse of Liberalism?
American Thinker ^ | 9/28/09 | J. Robert Smith

Posted on 09/28/2009 11:25:09 PM PDT by Nachum

Less than a year into his presidency, Barack Obama's world grows bleaker. Liberalism's world is bleaker. At home and abroad, liberalism, as advanced by the President, is failing. Are we witnessing the beginnings of another historic event, loosely comparable to the fall of communism twenty years ago? Now the fall of liberalism?

I certainly do hope so! Now, how can all of the leftist legislaton that still exists as well as what will exist sometime in the future successfully be ended and made into pro-conservative solutions for always? We still have all of the ongoing problems with: all of the entitlement programs; a terrible tax system still in place; the national debt; big government; welfare; red tape; judicial activism; political bias in the worldwide mainstream media; political indoctrination in many schools worldwide; political correctness worldwide; the “dumbing down” of people worldwide; campaign finance reform that’s crap; no term limits at the Congressional level; unnecessary pensions for too many people in government; possible socialized health care; and possible cap and trade legislation among a finite number of other ongoing and future problems.

Thanks to our founders & the Constitution, modern Liberalism/Progressivism (whatever ism you want) cannot and should not trump Individual Liberty in a Representative Republic. As long as our Liberty and Freedom is threatened (now daily), we should stay vigilant.

Only going into hibernation.

Consider the “stimulus” package (maybe package should be in quotes).

It’s been nothing more than a legalized spending spree for wish list items that only a dictator school graduate would put forth.

Even now in near depression, they are considering spending. If denied, they spend the down time dreaming up new programs.

It’s not gonna be pretty.

For the damage they have done, it shouldn't be pretty ...for them.

Lets hope the hibernation lasts at least 50 years instead of the 25 this time around....

Well, for one thing... nobody on Earth can afford it! Even the Chinese are running out of American dollars to support the credit card frenzy of Messrs Gethner and Bernanke. A remarkable binge, if I do say so myself...

Doubtful. It’s hard to rid the world of criminals...and there is never a shortage of useful idiots...but it is certainly worth the effort to try.

We cannot destroy liberalism without destroying liberals. The ideas infect the minds of fools.

Problem with that is they are so coiled around this society that they have a good chance of taking the country down with them.

“We cannot destroy liberalism without destroying liberals. The ideas infect the minds of fools.”

Well, then you’re gonna have to do a lot of killin’, ‘cause there’s a lot of fools in this world.

I oughta know, I married one.

As long as there are RINOs, liberalism will thrive and be strong.
