Unfortunate Spotlight ("first daughters" of Spain)

Last week Barack and Michelle Obama hosted a reception for visiting foreign dignitaries at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Over the course of the evening, the president, whose "amazingly consistent" smile created a viral video, and first lady posed for over 130 photographs with their guests, all of which were later posted to the State Department's Flickr page.

This caused a problem: Included was a shot of the Obamas posing with Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, his wife Sonsoles Espinosa, and two daughters, Laura, 16, and Alba, 13, who've never had photographs of themselves published previously in print or online due to a Spanish law prohibiting the media from doing so. The photo of Zapatero and his family with the Obamas was quickly removed from Flickr at the request of the Spanish government but still lurks online (in the shot seen here their faces are blurred). The flap is adding concerns on the issue of the privacy of world leaders' children in the digital age.

FWIW, Spain's first daughters are the Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo and the Infanta Cristina, Duchess of Palma de Mallorca, the daughters of King Juan Carlos I and Sophia of Greece and Denmark.

They are both in their middle 40s.

But then I don't approve of the older Obama daughter’s (age 11) skimpy wardrobe and dreadlocks look. I've seen her at events where she is representing the United States of America and I don't think she dresses the way I would like to see the daughter of a First Family dress. If she was one of the Bush girls the MSM would have blasted her, no doubt.

The daughters were dressed in "very conservative Gothic" compared to the unbelievably extreme Gothic scene in Spain. Here is one young couple of Goths, who are posing for a picture "after" a classical painting of Spanish royalty. Wow.

If they were my girls they would have been told there is a time and a place for the Goth look, and last week wasn’t it. I agree about Malia Obama — soon she’ll be wearing the boob belt. The Bush girls looked nice even when they were casually dressed.

They are teenagers with liberal parents paying for Doc Martin shoes and gastly Goth clothing. Stop the stupidity and pull the credit cards and shopping spree. Boneheaded children seem to be spoiled goofs.
