China: complaints on US chicken dumping justified
Sun Sep 27, 3:26 am ET
BEIJING (AFP) China said Sunday it had grounds to start a formal anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation into American chicken meat imports, as tensions persist following President Hu Jintao's visit to the US.
The Commerce Ministry announcement said an initial examination that began two weeks ago into domestic chicken producers' concerns had grounds and officials would now formally investigate the US imports.
"The ministry had carefully evaluated the applications... and decided to start an investigation into unfair trade practices such as dumping and subsidies of chicken products imported from the United States," it said.

Ping!
Let them eat cat.
At first glance I thought the title was “Complaints on U.S. chicken DUMPLING justified”. I was thinking: “What the heck is wrong with our dumplings? They taste fine to me.”
I dumped some old chicken out of my fridge last night.
So you are the one who is creating this international trade scandal.:-)
Modern economic texts are going to need to revise butter and guns to chicken and tires.
Bwahahahahaa!
“Keep plucking that chicken!”
Oh that’s funny. I wonder how many of the thousands of laid off chicken processing plant workers across the country will laugh.
They are right about subsidies as well. Corn farmers are heavily subsidized to grow that chicken feed. I imagine they will just go back to being paid to NOT grow anything at all again. Taxpayers love paying farm subsidies anyways.
will force them to dump this chicken on the domestic market, driving the price of a bucket of Extra Crispy down to $3.99 with a resultant bounce in Barry’s poll numbers. So you see, it works for them
Chinese cry fowl!
Speaking of corn....
Whatever happened to that great gasoline replacement idea ethanol?
Don't hear too much about that any more.
Not only is your motor fuel still being adulterated with lower energy, hygroscopic, corrosion causing ethanol, but there is an active group of eco-morons and big agro-business ethanol producers actively lobbying to force the rest of us to use fuel adulterated with 20% ethanol. This is spite of the fact that it has been proven that it takes more input energy to produce a unit of ethanol than you get out of it. Thank you George Bush and the Republicans for selling us out to the special interests on this one.
Damn, I remember the Jimmy Carter ethanol push and the introduction of it into automobile fuels back in the late seventies, but I never knew the fat investments companies made back then were because Dub told them to do it.
Once there's twelve or sixteen years of republican majorities in both houses of Congress, then I'll listen to "the republicans did it". Until then, any crap you blame on them is just reciting democrat propaganda since they couldn't even get something to the floor of either chamber without democrat approval for the vast majority of the past forty years .
I know over half the repubs are scum, but they're definitely the lesser of two evils as well as being the easier of the two parties to clean up. Since it's them or the Marxists, I'm for cleaning the republicans up once they're back to parity or majority in both houses, not playing the "they're all alike" game that ends up ceding everything to the democrat Marxists.
have a nice day
You need to straighten out your facts Jack. The E10 MANDATE was passed by republicans and signed into law by Bush in 2005. So damn, I remember Jimmy Carter as president, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't president in 2005.
Have a nice day.
