RICHMOND, Va. - The NAACP (web | news) says it's planning to protest a mural depicting President Barack Obama (web | news | bio) as the Joker from Batman on the side of a Richmond strip club.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People says its state conference, Virginia Commonwealth and Virginia Union college chapters plan to hold a news conference at noon Monday at 15th and Main in Richmond to express their outrage.
The organization says it will address the community's reaction to the mural and ongoing racial hostility.

Yup, you understand. Now bonus round: Depicting Pres. GW Bush as a money- is that racist? No, because he is white. Also, depicting Condolessa Rice as 'Aunt Jemimah' isn't racist either, becuause she works for a Republican.
It's only racist if you critize a Democrat and he happens to be black. Black Democrats can never be wrong - or you are a racist.
“Knock, knock”
“Who’s there?”
“Kenya”
“Kenya who?
“Kenya show us your birth certificate?”
;^)
Notice that the left always likes to put some sort of “unassailable victims” forth as their spokespeople.
It’s “sniping from cover”, because refuting what the spokesman says is attacking that victim class in some way.
It just demonstrates the indefensibility of leftist policies.
Although the article doesn’t mention it, the club they’re talking about is Club Velvet (not that I’ve been there). On 4/15 at Richmond’s Tea Party, the owner of the aforementioned club made several trips around the block in one of his trucks in support of the cause. The owner is a known dirtbag and was arrested lasty year for hiring underage dancers. To the owner, I say... no thanks buddy, we don’t need people like you supporting our cause.
Post it please. Let’s see what the fuss is about.
Did this group protest the bar pin-up of then VP candidate Sarah Palin? I can’t remember was she nude or just scantily clad?
ROFLOL!
They burn churches don’t they? I’d increase the insurance.
Imagine the outrage if they had colored (if you will excuse the term) him Black instead of his natural Tan.
In this particular case, it seems they are simply responding with their own free speech. That is how it is supposed to work, one side expresses its views, then another responds, etc, etc.
As long as they don’t try to get the mural legally banned, or break the law by trying to paint over it, or otherwise remove it, their protest is in no way anti-free speech, IMO.
I was talking to a Democrat city councilor yesterday at church who said he’s ready to put up the Joker poster. He is frustrated over what has happened to his party.
Interesting that they'd retain that organization name when part of it is clearly outdated. A reasonable person might be led to think that the "C" stands for something else these days. Hmmm, now what could *that* be?
I think instead that the mural would be considered free expression. There's a difference.
I’m sorry, I’m not sure where I want to come down on this issue. On the one hand the action of the NAACP seems a bit heavy handed.
On the other hand the poster on the side of the strip club
is inflammatory.
I guess I’ll just have to see the strippers before I can decide.
I am shocked that a mural of a President of the United States was painted on a strip club...
and it is not Bill Clinton!
A lot of doctors, including mine, don't even accept medicaid or medicare. Mine told me he would close up his practice and pursue a business venture in one of his other passions, bicycle touring.
The princess is gone, painted over about a year ago.
