WASHINGTON — More than 3,000 people a day have a heart attack. If you're one of them the day after your swine flu shot, will you worry the vaccine was to blame and not the more likely culprit, all those burgers and fries?
The government is starting an unprecedented system to track possible side effects as mass flu vaccinations begin next month. The idea is to detect any rare but real problems quickly, and explain the inevitable coincidences that are sure to cause some false alarms.
"Every day, bad things happen to people. When you vaccinate a lot of people in a short period of time, some of those things are going to happen to some people by chance alone," said Dr. Daniel Salmon, a vaccine safety specialist at the Department of Health and Human Services.
Health authorities hope to vaccinate well over half the population in just a few months against swine flu, which doctors call the 2009 H1N1 strain.

We got our flu shots two weeks ago. While getting it we got to talking about the H1N1 vaccine and I told the pharmacist that we were holding off on that one. We wanted to wait and see. Kind of like avoiding the first generation on software and she said she agreed.

Those poor folks, they must be getting tired of the daily heart attacks.
Here’s the interesting thing about that article. They want the public to deal in facts, i.e. realize not every adverse health problem can be attributed to the flu vaccine, even though it might occur right after the vaccination. However, they’re calling this a pandemic and “deadly”, but to date, it’s mortality rate has been no higher, probably lower than the regular flu. So those rushing to vaccinate are not really giving the true facts to the public, IMO.

You make a good point; the most egregious example of misinformation by gummint health authorites was the AIDS thing in the ‘70s. Back then, the reason was PC-ness; now, I do not understand their motivation. There has been a consistent difference in mortalities by age group, whereby older people seem to do better—probably due to previous exposures. Perhaps they’re afraid of school-age devastation...

The flu strains selected are cultivated in chick embryos for several weeks before being inactivated with formaldehyde, which is a known cancer-causing agent. Then they’re preserved with thimerosal, which is 49 percent mercury by weight.
Even many health care professionals are confused about this and are not aware that the preservative thimerosal is mercury. As a quick side note, one of my chief writers told me that, “the doctor’s office told me the vaccine does not contain mercury, just something called thimerosal.”

Screw ‘em...I have never taken a flu shot and will not start now...I’ve never had the flu...probably ‘cause I didn’t take the shots offered.

That’s what I’m doing this year. I’ve been getting the shots for 20 years, ever since I worked at a hospital and we got them for free through Employee Health. The one year I didn’t, I was pregnant - and oh man, was I sick with the flu that year! The part I remember was the worst - the chills til I thought I would shake to pieces.

I have the same symptoms from working the night shift (and reading the local news, or listening to a liberal).
I am not getting the shot. Period. Don’t trust the government.
I have gotten the flu vac off and on for the last few years. The last two years have been completely unnecessary. The vaccinations did not “protect” against the flu that occurred in those two years.
Now we have the seasonal flu and H1N1. I wouldn’t dare tell anyone what to do with their own body. But, you have got to wonder what kind of mixture those two vaccines are going to produce. They have been worrying about the H1N1 mutating...what an interesting opportunity.
By the way, I need some clarification. It is my understanding, from reading about the two types of vaccinations that will be available, that anyone who receives the flu mist will actually be shedding the virus for 21 days. Any freepers know anything about this?

The author seems to be saying that the whole H1N1 thing is a tremendous experiment on the population to see what the serum does. I suspect it is also an oblique experiment to see how much control the government can get on the population for an “emergency.”
