AUGUSTA, Maine (BP)--The issue of "gay marriage" in public schools is now front and center in Maine, thanks to a new television ad paid for by a group opposed to redefining marriage.
Stand For Marriage Maine launched the ad Sept. 23, spotlighting a Massachusetts couple whose son's second-grade class was read a book, "King & King," about a prince who "marries" another prince. The couple objected and requested notification of similar books in the future, but the school refused. The couple then sued in federal court and lost.
The ad is at the heart of an effort to pass Question 1, an initiative on the Nov. 3 ballot that would overturn Maine's recently passed "gay marriage" law.

Then I'd suggest taking them out of public schools.
The perennial question for the offended parents- WHY ARE YOUR CHILDREN STILL IN GOVERNMENT SCHOOL?!?!?!?!?
What a vague and malleable statement this indoctrinator makes. Please learn the language quickly. "Respect" and "dignity" no longer have the same connotation when they appear on a liberal's tongue. They are code for forced acceptance and mandated normalization of perversion.
I don't really like that the Question 1 advocates are tying this whole argument to school children, though - as valid an argument as this is. There are scores of other excellent reasons that a society should not condone and thereby promote homosexuality.
The answer to abusive government is to confront it, not run away in the vain hope that others solve the problem.
Local school boards are elected. Get in their faces via the PTA. Expose their radical goals. Tell others, write letters to the editor of local media. Better yet, run for a local school board seat on a platform in opposition to teaching anal intercourse to second graders.
If one is serious about education for one's children then one must keep them out of the government schools altogether. Other is child neglect at least and conscious abuse if the parents know that the propaganda and immorality for which public schools exist is wrong.
I somewhat agree. The defect is congenital - you might as well try to make cancer "good."
But if enough good people displace the current system (highly unlikely) and revert public schooling to it's originally intended concept of being a local franchise (even more unlikely) it can be salvaged. But I'm not going to hold my breath.
Darkness is dispelled by truth. We have given our institutions over to the radicals for too long. Fight the Left before there is nothing left to defend.
My sons are grown. I would like for Christians to be able to opt out of paying taxes for schools that push agendas such as this.
IIRC it was the Maine supreme court that found a right somewhere to homo marriage. Correct?
Sorry stunt. Citizens had to collect signatures to bring it to a vote.
No, it was our legislature that circumvented the will of the people. Then our governor, wrestling for a moment or two with his conscience, signed it into law.
Thankfully in Maine, we have a people’s veto. This is how it got onto the ballot for this November.
Officially recognizing homosexual perversion won't only affect schools. Far from it. It will be imposed on every facet of life, even upon those who don't agree and even have religious grounds for doing so. If you don't believe this, ask Catholic Charities in Boston, or the Methodist group who owns Ocean Grove Camp Ground in New Jersey, or the photographer in New Mexico who refused to photograph a lesbian "commitment ceremony," or eHarmony.com who was sued because they wouldn't offer homosexual connection services as part of their business.
The nature of the homosexual culture is encroaching and corrupting. It will not be content to control a specific geographic area that wallows in its own filth and degradation, it must spread this filth into every area of our national culture and life - public AND private.
I've seen their ads online, too. Do you really think this obnoxiously evident propaganda will convince anyone who knows what marriage is to change their minds? I think their ad actually works FOR Question 1's passage, especially when they show two grown men flanking a boy walking down a sidewalk.
Keep it up, perversionphiles.
At least the Baptist Press article has it right; it states that the legislation signed by the governor is an attempt to ‘redefine marriage,’ which is truly is.
...just a sample of what can be expected in Maine if the gays get their way.....
