They’re not deserting. They’re just in a holding pattern circling it. The moment the storm passes, they’ll crawl back onboard and try to keep it afloat.

The question is,” What is the name and shape of Acorn’s replacement organization?” Keep careful watch.

They stick around long enough to see what they can get away with, and once there is no longer a benefit to them they abandon ship and search for ways to point the finger of blame at Republicans.

I am surprised they are deserting. I would have expected them to circle the wagons.

Caution: You are mixing metaphors. There has never been a documented case where people deserting sinking ships were circled by wagons...

The dums are caught between a rock and a hard place. I would not be surprised if ACORN has a little black book(s) with names of people in the DNC and will disclose them if dems abandon them. Better buy alot of popcorn ‘cause it looks like this fall and winter may be fun to watch.

Lastly, if ACORN is defunded and under the microscope from local, state, and fed. agencies, this may lessen their impact or enthusiasm for the 2010 elections. It may be a bigger bloodbath for dems in 2010 since it will be a more fair election.

Now if we can just get that undercover tape of Fannie and Freddie setting up a brothel ...

Won't matter. Barney Frank had a gay brothel running in his Washington DC house and no one cared.

ACORN's many enablers over the years are racing for the exits

The sewers are like catacombs. They'll just find another dark, wet, smelly place to hide.

Acorn has gone global; how long will it take to uncover how they’ve transfered funds abroad under various countries’ laws? They are weaving quite an international web.

Great job, backhoe. Reminds me of our deep bench of talent on FR. And it takes me back to the Clinton debacle days.

What is the name and shape of Acorn’s replacement organization?

Community Organizers International. It's already been renamed.

I had heard that the House bill to cut off funding to ACORN has to be reconciled in some way with the Senate bill before it actually becomes law.

I had also heard that it is so draconian to other groups and companies that receive federal funding that it could jeopardize military contracts with Boeing and other military suppliers.

Pretty sneaky, huh?
