Brown Stink Bug Invades D.C.-area That's just racist. We've known about them for years only we called them ACORN activists.

I don’t get it.
I just found this kind of beetle on-line (accidentally, while looking for another pest we have) that’s been around our area for some time (but not all my life) which is supposedly the SOLDIER BUG.
I guess they’re all “stink-bugs”, but I don’t know the difference in species here.
Just the other night, my toddler son spotted 1 above a high window and I picked it up and tossed it outside (and George obsessed on it all night).
I had no idea any of these might be “stinky”. I’ve never noticed an odor.

My son caught one last night and put it in a partially full bottle of water. It squirted out a good volume of white milk colored substance.

I really, really dislike these things. They started showing up around my area only a couple of years ago. We hadn’t seen many of them this year until 2 days ago when the temperature went up into the ‘80’s. At least the rain we’re seeing drove the little twerps back into hiding.
They fly in a fairly uncoordinated fashion, making an annoying buzzing sound and they’ll run into and land on people without a 2nd thought.

Yep, they invaded my house last week. My place smelled like old wet laundry.
I initially treated them with care, thinking they were members of congress.
