And if you decide not to buy insurance? And you get into an accident or otherwise end up in the ER? Then we ALL pay for you.

I can see the reasoning behind this - if you are relying on private insurance to insure the health costs of all Americans, then there has to be some fine for the freeloaders.

Insurance is not required to pay hospital or doctor bills.

Or, they could be made to pay their bills.
How is this any different than going bankrupt over unsecured loans or mortgages? Why not have mandatory insurance for those too so that we don't have to pay for those free loaders?

They aren’t going to fine the freeloaders.

What they are trying to do is force the segment of the population that is the least likely to use health care- young people whose health is generally excellent but who are not buying insurance for that very reason- to become the new host for the parasite of so-called “progressivism.” They have sucked everyone else dry and need a new host.
