North Forest High School on Lockdown

HOUSTON - Police say that a northeast Houston high school is on lockdown after at least four reports of random assault rifle shootings into the air in nearby neighborhoods.
FOX 26 News has learned that North Forest Independent School District police and the Houston Police Department are at North Forest High School and may be searching for a suspect in the shootings.
Police believe that at least one suspect fired an AK-47 into the air at the intersection of Ribbonwood Street and Everglade Drive, two other locations on Ribbonwood Street and one shooting on Caddo Road.

Shooting? Was someone hit? If not they just fired the weapon, or fired off a shot into the air. You could reference him shooting into the air, but calling it a shooting would imply someone was shot.
Just your friendly muslims letting us know one of their own is in the WH.
Now how would they know they were "assault rifle" firings, rather than just an ordinary rifle?
