MARFA, Texas — Actor Randy Quaid and his wife have been arrested in West Texas for allegedly skipping out on a $10,000 California hotel bill.

Quaid and his wife, Evi, were taken into custody Thursday afternoon, according to Santa Barbara County sheriff's officials, who said authorities in West Texas informed them of the arrest. A statement from the California agency said it was told by the Presidio County Sheriff's Department that Evi Quaid was restrained after a brief struggle.

Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez declined to respond to questions from The Associated Press.

Presidio County authorities said earlier Thursday that the two were in custody in Marfa but the department wasn't releasing other details.

“The Marfa Lights are real. I’ve seen them.”

I’ll go with the quartz piezoelectric explanation.

Marfa has decided to do away with their Police Force.
Dissension caused a rift.It will be patrolled by the local Sheriffs.
Yes those were the local jails, until recently[I think]
It has become an artsy place, with the upper regions of the country,I.E.,Liberal Arts, etc.,who want to turn it into NYC type of style.
GBLT soon to follow.
I used to enjoy a cup of Java there.
Now it is used as a drug intervention stop.
The Police do a good job as best they can.

Just rattlesnakes and lots and lots of windmills now

Ah yes, progress, I loved the barren country.

Got acquainted with a few rattlesnakes in AZ.We quail hunted around Sunsites and North of Willcox.

Thank-you! You’re correct. Quaid’s character flew his bi-plane earlier in the movie when he was a crop duster.

His character was an ex-fighter pilot from the Vietnam War days, and he did, in fact, fly an F-18 into the giant UFO at the end of the movie. As the 20-somethings would say, “My bad.”

Back in the 60’s we played the Marfa Mustangs (I think that was their team) and little towns all in West Texas. We played Kerrville, Alpine, Ft. Stockton, Marfa, Sanderson, and one team from El Paso which was 350 miles from Del Rio. Marfa was the most fun because we would call them Marfadites across the line of scrimmage and just about get into a fist fight every down. That was back in the old days when alcohol was the biggest drug and fighting with fists was a sport.

Ironic. JFK and Jackie honeymooned at the San Ysidro Ranch back in 1953.

I think Quaid did a good job as LBJ. He’s great at trailer trash. He was one of the cast on the worst cast ever on SNL. The year they thought actors would be funnier than the regular comics.

He agreed to work for scale in Brokeback Mountain, because nobody really thought it would make a lot of money;

IIRC, Donald Sutherland took the full pay option instead of a percentage for his role as Professor Jennings in "Animal House". He didn't expect it to be such a hit.

Steve McQueen lost out on big bucks by doing the same with "The Blob".

Then he flew his bi-plane (armed with a missile) inside the giant UFO hovering near Area 51 and denotated the malfunctioning missile, taking down the spaceship.

Actually, he was flying an F-18 Hornet when he blew up the spaceship. ;)

Everytim I've stayed in a hotel, I've had to give them my credit card, and the clerk would put a hold on all the money I could possible spend, to make sure that when I checked out, the credit was available to pay the bill.

What happened here?
