I suspect it was supposed to be “Abroad” not “A broad”. But it’s good they apologized.

What's that in the road - a head?
The editor never made the argument that it was supposd to be "abroad" - though that was my thought initially.

I suspect it was supposed to be Abroad not A broad. But its good they apologized. An intentional accident, perhaps?

I suspect it was supposed to be Abroad not A broad. Yes. I suspect it was a deliberate double entendre that just happened to be grossly offensive. Sometimes the writer is so pleased with how clever it is that he or she doesn't see the flip side. But I'm only speculating.

With the level of ignorance displayed by many so-called journalists today it is quite possible the writer didnt’t know the difference between abroad and a broad.

Yep, that is what I thought. It was written as abroad and some lefty some place in the chain made the change and no one noticed.
