The Daily News-Miner has had its agreements and disagreements with now-former Gov. Sarah Palin at various points during her time serving the state of Alaska. We have tried to maintain respect for the office of governor and to be generally civil when discussing Mrs. Palin, her policies and the actions she took while serving as governor. The same has been true for the time since she left office.
Today I must apologize to Mrs. Palin personally and on behalf of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner for the choice of words used on the bottom of Wednesdays front page regarding her speaking engagement in Hong Kong this week to a group of global investors.
We used offensive language A broad in Asia above a small photograph of the former governor to direct readers inside the newspaper to a full story of her Hong Kong appearance.
There can be no argument that our use of the word broad is anything but offensive. To use this word to describe someone of the stature of the former governor who is also the former vice presidential nominee of the Republican Party only adds to the anger that many people appropriately feel.

I hope that on Jan.20th, 2013, these liberal pukes will be forced to write “President Sarah Palin”.
“Broad.” Haven’t heard that term in awhile! If not satire, I suspect a word or two was inadvertantly left out, completely altering the meaning. It happens.
Sounds like FDN-M got Freeped by folks who don’t even know what that means yet.
Oh duh. That's what I get for trying to FReep and work at the same time :-)
Broad was bad, but I call her a babe all the time. Of course I also call my Bride, of 38 years, a babe too.
My guess is they are responding to the rattle of a legal saber...Palin has indicated that she will go after those who engage in slander, libel, or other forms of personal attack with a vengeance now that she’s Citizen Palin.
So, who lost their job over this?
aka...Horse's ass
I would like to see their sales numbers.
that would be a great day.
..the (Government) Marxists are gonna
is (really) pissed & out of power.
I’m sure the lefties are still chuckling about it in the “news” room.
I want him to explain how it got in there..... The same way CNN put a runner explaining who the speaker on the tube was “ NIGGER INNES”. No body apologized for that.
Sarah should respond saying “Well, I didn’t really see it so I guess I’m not offended and I doubt too many others did either so I guess it’s no big deal.”
You nailed it!
Back in Frankie’s day being called a broad was not an insult..It meant you were quite a gal...later the term a Fox was the new term for broad....I lived during those times...:O( getting old...
Now, if they would apologize for attacking a patriot.
Knock me over with a feather.
With the level of ignorance displayed by many so-called journalists today it is quite possible the writer didnt’t know the difference between abroad and a broad.
