I’ve always hated that term and found it very demeaning. There is no comparison to a term applied to a man. It’s just icky and certainly doesn’t belong in a newspaper, nor is there any justification for applying it to a former governor.

We used offensive language -- "A broad in Asia" -- above a small photograph of the former governor to direct readers inside the newspaper to a full story of her Hong Kong appearance. There can be no argument that our use of the word "broad" is anything but offensive.
"and just to make sure you didn't miss it, we included it twice in our 'apology'."
