LOS ANGELES The chickens have come home to roost for Los Angeles city dwellers who keep roosters.
The City Council on Tuesday passed an ordinance that with few exceptions allows only one rooster per property. It was spurred by complaints over noise and hygiene and concerns over illegal cockfighting.
Janice Hahn, who authored the bill, says it will give residents of her district some peace and quiet.

If these cowards would enforce the existing immigration laws, this wouldn’t be necessary.
Wow, your back.
That’s racist as all get out!!!!!! SO, if Juan’s Mexican bred hens are ‘hot to trot’ and good layers, then why can’t Juan have at least 3 roosters...... 2 to service the hens and one to bet on?
....ah, the joys of multi-culturalism!....we have similar things in the Baltimore-Washington area when Muslims started slaughtering goats in their backyards....the shrieks of the goats were making neighborhood children cry....
Oh my, that wouldn’t go down well on my street! My neighbors have several. I always get a chuckle when they take a little hike to my backyard.
Seriously...who needs more than one cock at a time?
Raising one’s own chickens in Los Angeles?
That’s the way it was during the great depression.
We had a neighbor who chicken-wired in his entire back yard. He DID seem to have a rooster surplus . . . .
But they didn't make a lot of noise, really . . . at least not compared to Leona the goat next door, Billy the goat next door on the OTHER side, or the guinea fowl, or . . .
Little bit of country in the city, and we weren't anywhere near Doraville (City of Atlanta, actually, right at the Howell Mill exist on 75 North. It was a funky little neighborhood. I really miss it, just not the city taxes.)
Have you talked with Bwarney???
Thank God! I’ll be able to sleep easy tonight. No more fear of gangs of wild roosters clucking through the streets perpetrating a reign of bother.
And about darn time!
AKA the “one cock per walk” ordinance
From my cold dead hands........
Gotta love it - the whole damn state’s going down the tubes, and the legislature is worrying about ...roosters!
It’s funny as I live in LA in a neighborhood that has, among many other things, many illegals. We have roosters. I kinda like listening to them on weekends. During the week, working in the stock market, I’m up way before the roosters.
Maybe I should honk my horn.
How ‘bout pigs and goats?
Looks like Mr. Pelosi will have to let his significant other go....
