Lazio to Enter N.Y. Governor's Race
By SUZANNE SATALINE
Rick Lazio, a former Republican congressman from Long Island, N.Y., will announce on Tuesday that he's running for governor, a spokesman said.
Mr. Lazio, who served four terms in Congress, chose in 2000 to run for Senate. He lost to Hillary Clinton, who is now secretary of state.
Mr. Lazio, 51, is on leave from J.P. Morgan Chase where he is a managing director. He will seek to unseat Gov. David Paterson, a Democrat who is struggling in the polls. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, a Republican, has said he is considering running for the job.

I hope Lazio and Giuliani have taken care of all of their skeletons. Obama’s SS squads are probably already going through their dumpsters.
Lazio:
Leaves podium.
Walks toward opponent. (just like before)
Waves hand in front of face says “can you see me now.”
Lazio: Really?
No body else is qualified??
Maybe Barry will back the white guy.
Why do we get all the retreads?
Good point. Damaged goods are hard to sell.
Lazio was absolutely pathetic vs. Hillary. What moron would waste a dime on him?
Absolutely pathetic!
RINO....
After living thru his disaster against Clinton I don’t see any way he can win.
Instead, the guy completely milked his Mayoral/911 legacy and became a one-issue candidate.
Lazio’s performance against hillary was just plain dismal.
As I recall, he managed to pick up a bunch of campaign aides from McCain. And it showed. They didn’t know ANYTHING about running for office in NY State.
Giuliani had some health problems and marital baggage in that election, but I shouldn’t think they would hurt him particularly now. I strongly opposed him as a presidential candidate, but he’s probably the best we could do for NY governor.
YAWN....
Maybe he can hire McCain’s guru Murphy again and pitch campaign finance reform as his big policy initiative. Rick Lazio ran the single worst serious statewide campaign in NY history. No I don’t accept Pierre Rinfret as serious.
In 2002, Rudy would have had to unseat sitting Gov Pataki in a Repub primary .. not likely, given the circumstances of those uncertain times (just after 9/11)
Rudy's best chance for governor came and went in 2006, when he could have ran and easily won ... but decided to run for POTUS instead -- bad move on his part. The NY Governorship was his for the taking at the time
Yep but wasn't Giuliani going thru cancer at that point?
Besides the other issues. Republicans need to say no to the banker elites. If he works high level at JPM.. Well you figure it out.
