Six months after it announced its strategy for Afghanistan, the Obama administration is sending mixed signals about its objectives there and how many troops are needed to achieve them.
The conflicting messages are drawing increasing ire from U.S. commanders in Afghanistan and frustrating military leaders, who are trying to figure out how to demonstrate that they're making progress in the 12-18 months that the administration has given them.
Adding to the frustration, according to officials in Kabul and Washington, are White House and Pentagon directives made over the last six weeks that Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan, not submit his request for as many as 45,000 additional troops because the administration isn't ready for it.> snip
Three officers at the Pentagon and in Kabul told McClatchy Newspapers that the McChrystal they know would resign before he would stand behind a faltering policy that he thought would endanger his forces or the strategy. >snip
The White House still hasn't decided how much political capital it wants to invest in Afghanistan, and it considers a health care overhaul, financial regulatory revisions and energy policy its priorities, the senior defense official said.
In Kabul, however, U.S. commanders said they thought that Obama's strategy was based on McChrystal's assessment of what he needs. "We thought that bringing McChrystal here was their strategy," one said.
Those officials said that taking time could be costly because the U.S. risked losing the Afghans' support. "Dithering is just as destructive as 10 car bombs," the senior official in Kabul said. "They have seen us leave before. They are really good at picking the right side to ally with."

Thanks for the reminder:
“UPDATED2: No, Obama’s VA did NOT pull so-called ‘Death Book’ from website”

Lies, lies, and more damn lies! I need Pepto Bismol...big time.
If true, then the troops he now controls as commander-in-chief should be brought home. My question is that: why are conservatives giving him a blank check to send MORE troops to Afghanistan?
Good point. IOW, "since you didn't have the decency to get yourself killed serving in the military because you were too dumb to go to college, the least you can do is check yourself out from the planet using this handy VA reference guide so you don't burden the rest of us enlightened ones with your healthcare issues."

Writing that implies that an organization, or city, or country has an emotion such as impatience is a manipulative kind of writing.
We have long been manipulated by statements such as “Washington feels that..”. And it’s always beneficial to the democrat position, of course. We are generally good in this community at pointing out different kinds of manipulation in media, but some still get right past us.
The US military is an extremely professional organization, almost to a fault, and to imply it is “impatient” is (a) nonsensical, (b) dumb, (c) manipulative.
And yes, there are too many arab names in the byline. A highly disproportionate number, and it is because the Saudis spent much of the 90’s buying as much US media as they could, as they felt it was the best use of their defense budget.
Obama is surrendering to the vicious Left, which wants the US military first humiliated, then disbanded. Afghanistan abandonment, CIA destruction, boy are we gonna get hit hard soon. Obama will blame Bush and the Rancid Media will back him up with more lies.
Let's take a drive instead.:)
Most know how devastating it will be to national security to lose that war. My opinion is that Obama is trying to hamstring the military so that we will not only be defeated, but that we will be humiliated and will result in the right’s call to bring them home, providing cover for the left, and demeaning the stature of the US before the whole world, even beneath the depths it has plunged as a result of his misguided foreign policy and apology tour.
READ the articles. TALK to guys IN the Military. PAY ATTENTION! I have. This is what it is, and I don’t care WHOSE name is in the byline, see. I KNOW real live people who might not stay that way if this continues, and so do most of us who have been following this since day 1. Now, if you can’t add anything constructive, shut up!
It was McChrystal who hid the Pat Tilman truth. It was under McChrystal that Marines died asking for aircover and none came. It is under McChrystal that Women Marines are forced to wear headscarves. Don’t EVEN talk to me about “professional to a fault.”
Thanks 444Flyer,here’s a bump.
Welcome Fatima.
I completely agree; however, American voters sealed our fate last November and it will have a negative impact for generations around the world. Not much for us to do other than prepare to look after our own families.

He’s worse. The jerk is McGovern 1.0 mixed with Malcolm X 2.0. I’d even say the TOTUS is Lenin 2.0, but it is obvious that the jerk isn’t nearly as well-read, well-spoken, or literate as Lenin.
“Hard to decide some days if the 0 is Carter 2.0 or LBJ 2.0”
or Chavez 4.6..or perhaps even Osama Bin Laden 5.0. (eye roll)
WT...(Now I need Pepto.)
Iia, heads up if you haven't heard about this.
or Chavez 4.6..or perhaps even Osama Bin Laden 5.0. (eye roll)
No because neither of your 2 analogs are any where near historically, or factually apt. However, the 0 is repeating the same foreign and domestic policy errors of the Carter Regime and he seem to have adopted the war fighting strategy of LBJ.
Perhaps in the future when you don't understand the analogy you might find it best to stay silent rather then rolling eyes at people who, unlike you, actually know what they are talking about.
Thanks for the ping!
