Police are searching for killer committed to a mental institution after he escaped during a field trip to the Spokane County Interstate Fair.
Spokane County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Reagan says 57-year-old Phillip Arnold Paul was last seen Thursday morning in the northeast part of the fairgrounds.
The sheriff's office told KXLY in Spokane that they were "dismayed" that the Eastern State's Hospital didn't notify authorities for more than an hour and a half after they knew he was missing.
"It appears now there was a two hour lapse from the point he disappeared from his attendant to the sheriff's office was notified of his escape and obviously that's a concern to us," Sgt. Reagan told KXLY. "We're concerned that we were not aware that people of his criminal history were being brought to the fair for day trips. As a courtesy we would have liked to have been notified ahead of time."

That’s pretty much exactly how the Brian Nichols case went down here in Atlanta at the Fulton County Courthouse. Huge buff accused rapist alone with a grandmother FC Sheriff’s Deputy. It did not end well at all.

Shouldn’t they be even more dismayed that an insane killer was taken on a field trip?
It is not “breathtakingly insane” in Washington State. It is SOP. These people aren’t really insane or criminal. They just had bad childhoods and need love and understanding and field trips.
This is why “insanity” should not be relevant in a murder trial. If the killer is sane, the execution is punishment; if he’s “insane” its a mercy killing.
As I recall, the loonies in Cuckoo’s Nest escaped and then went back to the insane asylum with prostitutes.
Authorities need to contact ACORN. Maybe Phillip Arnold Paul will be back soon when ACORN provides the prostitutes.
It’s worse than just sending Dukakis to the Senate.
They changed the law to prevent Romney (R) from making an interim senate appointment. Now they are changing the law back to allow Patrick (D) to make an interim senate appointment. No partisan politics, nosiree.
Everyone knows the rules or laws don’t apply to dems.

Dangerous guy. He looks like a regular person, pleasant and normal. It would be easy for him to pretend innocence before he attacks.
