Lab Tech's DNA Matched Evidence In Annie Le Slaying, Source Says
Raymond Clark III, whose DNA matched evidence at the Yale crime scene, tried to cover his tracks, a source says.

Reporting from New Haven, Conn. - As FBI agents and Yale University police combed the basement of a laboratory building for missing bride-to-be Annie Le, the man accused of killing her moved among them in an apparent effort to cover his tracks, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation said.
That behavior aroused suspicions about Raymond Clark III, but the final piece that led to his arrest Thursday was the discovery that evidence in the ceiling and in the crawl space where Le's body was found contained the DNA from both Le and Clark, according to the law enforcement official who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.
Clark, 24, was arrested at a Super 8 Motel in Cromwell, Conn., and charged with murder.
One investigator, among a group who were in the lab interviewing employees and students shortly after Le disappeared, reported witnessing Clark trying to hide lab cleaning equipment that they later discovered contained blood spatters.
Clark was observed cleaning up areas Le was in before she was reported missing, the law enforcement official said.

Guilty - lethal injection now.
That was awful nervy of him, getting underfoot of the investigators. Several fries shy of a Happy Meal.
I wonder why this nut, reportedly a keeper of the lab animals, went after Le in the first place. It sounds like something that would happen in a science horror flick.
Do they even remember how to do that in Connecticut?
Raymond Clark III, the man charged in the murder of Yale graduate student Annie Le , was under constant surveillance since last Saturday, a day before Le’s body was found in a campus laboratory basement.
On Sunday, when Le’s body was found, Velleca said Clark was at his family’s home in Cromwell, Conn., and it appeared to be “life as usual.” Clark played softball in the afternoon at a park, visited relatives in Higganum and spent time at the Hebron Fair. He then returned to his family’s home in Cromwell.
On Monday Velleca told the Independent, “He became a stronger suspect. We switched to overt surveillance.” Detectives would deliberately walk in front of the house and make their badges visible. Velleca said their hope was that Clark would initiate a conversation himself, but Clark never spoke to them.
From that point on, Clark suspended his usual activities and would drive straight from his apartment in Middletown to his family’s home in Cromwell.
On a search warrant, investigators searched Clark’s apartment on Tuesday for physical evidence and collected DNA samples. At 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Clark checked into a Super 8 hotel in Cromwell where at 8 a.m. on Thursday, he was arrested.

According to a law enforcement official, people have been describing Raymond Clark as a “control freak.”
The official says Clark has been described to police as someone who viewed the Yale University research lab where he worked as his own territory.
official says investigators are having a hard time establishing a motive, because Clark won’t talk to police.

Some internet findings have led the public to believe that Clark was set to wed his current roommate and girlfriend, Jennifer Hromadka. The two were reported to have a wedding announcement site, now taken down, and Hromadka had reportedly posted vague references to rumored infidelity on behalf of Raymond on her personal MySpace page.

Police believe that Le fought for her life.
Investigators found a single bead from a necklace she was wearing in the lab area where she was last seen. They also found tiny blood droplets in that area.
Clark also had scratches and bruises on his arms and back. When he was interviewed by FBI agents, Clark said the scratches were cuts from a cat and from playing softball. The sources said authorities were investigating further into the scratches.
Computer records of his swipe card show he left the building several times and also moved between several rooms, including some that he had no reason to be in, a source said.

Scratches from a cat huh.
Put him naked in a tiger’s cage, covered with tuna juice.
Its crazy to look at pictures of him with his dogs and his girlfriend, and then imagine him being capable of murdering such a beautiful, intelligent woman. He just doesn’t look the type. He almost looks like that actor Noah something from ER.
Whatever — he apparently wasn’t satisfied to just clobber Le over the quarrel. He wanted her dead.
“or he was a radical animal rights activist.”
would a radical animal rights activist be in charge of keeping mice for experiments?
Only if he were a mole.

“He was just a custodian keeping the labs clean. “
Ok, but I don’t think a radical animal rights activist would be working there.
dna evidence. sure hope they don’t screw that stuff up.
Time will tell, I suppose. I am interested in knowing his motivation. I wonder if he will ever tell the truth.
I am assuming he is guilty because of the tremendous weight of the evidence.
