Houston Man Slammed Against Car, Ticketed Over Obama ‘Joker’ Posters

.

A Houston man was handcuffed and assaulted by cops for posting anti-Obama flyers around his town, actions described as “criminal vandalism” by police and some local residents, despite the fact that giant pro-Obama murals are openly displayed in the same neighborhood for all to see.

21-year-old Mark Fuhre, an Alex Jones Show listener, decided to post the flyers even though the Infowars Obama Joker Poster Contest had ended, because he wanted to alert his neighbors to the cult of personality being manufactured around Obama and how the establishment is stifling any criticism of the President by constantly invoking racism.

Fuhre believed that he had a first amendment right to express his opinion, just as those that spray painted giant Obama “HOPE” murals in the same neighborhood had done without opposition.

THIS IS HOUSTON.

Come to this town sometime. I'll give you directions to it.

Main Street is two blocks east of this location.

Unfortunately we don’t live in a eutopian society. People will abuse and use people and property for their own means, which is why we have laws & rules. These laws & rules, administered by the consent of the people, are what protects our rights.
I don’t know if this protester violated the law or not. As I posted before, nobody knows all of the facts. However, if he did violate the law then he was wrong. If he didn’t like the law then he should have lobbied to change it. That is the freedom we enjoy. In the China, there is no lobbying to change laws.
Without laws, we would have anarchy. The libs would steal my guns because they don’t feel I should have them; or someone will steal my car because they wanted it; or someone will rape my wife because they can. Laws prevent these things and protect our rights. Laws are only a bad thing if they become oppressive or are enacted in defiance of the will of the people.

I’m not disputing that the picture is from Houston. According to the article, the incident in question is NOT in Houston proper.

I did not know that tenure on this site governed my 1st amendment rights to comment. After all, isn’t this debate about protecting our 1st amendment rights.

Besides I’m not the only person that believed this person was a troll. Just look at his posts.

By the way, if you think you can make me STFU then I live in Keller, TX (DFW). I’ll give you directions if you email me and we’ll see if you can actually do it!

Perhaps if you are truly a conservative, you should listen and be open to other conservatives. I’ve been on freepers for over 5 years as a lurker. It was only recently that I felt the need to post anything.

This town has nothing but Dem mayors. The city council is bought and paid for by Democrat business partners.

The Houston Comical, the city's only daily paper, is liberal.

You need to get your bearing here before you defend this city as some sort of conservative bastion.

Even the corrupt DA Chuck Rosenthal (R) said that he didn't really “wanna” enforce the same sex sodomy law but he “had no choice” (although he ignored State law that permitted people to carry guns in their cars, saying that he would prosecute them as felons and let them defend themselves all the way to the state supreme court). He's gone now. Run out of office over an internal “affair” and so called racist emails. I'd stopped voting for him years ago.

I just asked a question about the troll issue, but I don’t really think the number of posts should determine how conservative you are. That is just stupid.
See what the person has to say and if you look at my post, you will see that I am very conservative.

Try explaining what laws you are talking about? I never once cited any law so you argument is mute.
Why does being a new poster matter? My messages are all conservative.
If you want to claim I’m a lib just because I like to know that facts before I jump to conclusions then freepers standards have truly lowered over the last 5 years that I’ve lurked here.
I’m not defending the cops or the protester. Everyone seems to want to jump down my throat for stating that there might be more to this story since the article ONLY gives the perspective of the arrested protester. Get a clue folks.

Prisonplanet is Alex Jones’ website. The poster contest was Alex Jones’ contest. The vandal near Dallas was entering that contest. The yellow wall photo is hosted on Prisonplanet. Alex Jones seems to find it relevant, the jpg is dated Sept 2009.

I don’t know if the network (Houston local) covered the Joker Poster story or what the association is. I won’t give Alex Jones the clicks.

However, my statement still stands that the Pro-bama mural may require signage oversight.

The video says the man posted the nObama posters in his neighborhood, Kingwood. Kingwood is not Houston. But I agree with you that inner city Houston is pretty darn liberal.

I agree that the laws must be enforced and if you look at my previous posts, I clearly stated multiple times that if they are not being enforced and the cops are wrong then sue the pants off of them. Get the cops fired. Exercise your rights and do something about it.

However, on the other side of that argument, we should not just assume that this was the case in this particular incident. It sounds like the guy possibly broke the law. If he did then he is wrong. Just because the libs break the law doesn’t mean conservatives should. I believe conservative are better than that.

Wouldn’t everyone feel foolish later if they find out that this guy ran from the cops when they just wanted to question what he was doing so the cops chased him and the guy then tried to fight/resist the cops, claiming he was being harassed for no reason. It happened in the Gates incident. The cops have a right to question someone that is reported by a citizen for “suspicious” activity.

Now I’m not saying this is the case, but I don’t know and neither does anyone else. Everyone seems to take this protesters word as gold without bothering to wait on the full facts. That just irritates me.

If conservatives start doing this then we’ll be no different than libs because every libs automatically assumes any opposition to Obummer is racist, when it isn’t. We need to get the whole story and then hold accountable whichever party is wrong in this.

I’m not disputing that the Obama mural requires oversight. It may. It depends on the local city ordinances and I don’t know exactly what those ordinances are for each city since they vary greatly between cities.

If the mural is in violation of the law then local residents should definitely complain to the city council and do something about it.

One of the first things you should always find out when you start a new job is whether or not the janitor reads the stuff in your trashcan.

If the yellow building is a private business, then they may still be legally able to put the mural on their building.

If you notice in Houston, the zoning laws & city ordinances are very liberal and rarely enforced due to low manpower in their law enforcement areas.

This building may be skirting the law due to the phrase “used exclusively and at all times (except when there is no copy at all on the structure) for messages that do not constitute advertising, including, but not limited to, political...messages. If the building is not used exclusively for these political messages then this building may be except.

No, but what you DID do was berate me and others for not knowing your local laws, when you don't even know them yourself. That makes you a blowhard know-it-all who really doesn't have a clue, other than coming across as a pompous windbag.

Oh, and, every n00b is held to high standard and always suspect. Get with the program. And get a clue yourself. I may be unemployed, but I can certainly send you a quarter so you can buy one.

You're a "Conservative"?

EVERY Conservative I have ever known understands that the 1st Amendment says: "Congress shall make no law...".

The 1st Amendment doesn't apply here. Jim Thompson (LOL!) makes the rules here.

Yes, Houston proper is liberal. It is considered a “sanctuary city” for illegals (Austin is also very liberal). Houston has a high minority population. However, most of the suburbs are very conservative.

I think some of the freepers must have misunderstood my comments. I’m not defending the city or the cops, but I’m not yet defending the protester either. If someone with a Palin or Obama sticker on their car gets stopped for speeding, I’m not going to automatically assume the stop was purely political or racist. I’m the kind of person that first wants to know if the person is speeding. If they are, then the sticker usually becomes irrelevant since the driver did violate the law and deserved the ticket.

However, I will be the first to say that the cop should be hammered if the driver wasn’t speeding and/or it is revealed that the stop was politically or racially motivated.

My point is that the city and cops may be completely at fault, but the protester could be at fault also. I need more than just the protester’s side of the story to decide though. I believe in listen, but verify.

The problem is if conservatives constantly claim liberal bias without knowing for sure, then it loses its affect much like crying wolf or much like the libs calling everything conservative racist. We have to know the facts so that we can pick and choose our battles.

You have just outed yourself as a liberal, or a very ill-informed (alleged) conservative. Your 1st amendment rights protect you against government intervention in political, religious, etc. speech. Let me repreat, FROM THE GOVERNMENT. Private enterprises, such as businesses, etc. can state such rules as they see fit. That includes FreeRepublic. If you do not understand what the 1st amendment means, you either need to spend more time here reading instead of shooting your mouth off, or you shouldn't be here at all.

I never berated anyone and I never claimed to know the local laws or ordinances of every city in TX. Please read my posts more carefully.

I was only responding to people that automatically blamed the cops or claimed a liberal bias. I pointed out that the laws vary between cities, acts, ordinances, and severity of action. This is true. None of us know how these things played into the events in question. Isn’t that a fair question to ask though? How do you feel this berated you or anyone else?

Do you not agree that the facts should be known BEFORE a decision of guilt is handed out?

And again, I understand the n00b thing, but just look at all of my posts and you will see that I have never made any statements that could be construed as liberal. Please judge me based on my actions and comments; not by my tenure as a poster. That stinks of discrimination./s

Go read the Constitution then come back and learn. Until then, you are truly irrelevant.
