Houston Man Slammed Against Car, Ticketed Over Obama ‘Joker’ Posters

.

A Houston man was handcuffed and assaulted by cops for posting anti-Obama flyers around his town, actions described as “criminal vandalism” by police and some local residents, despite the fact that giant pro-Obama murals are openly displayed in the same neighborhood for all to see.

21-year-old Mark Fuhre, an Alex Jones Show listener, decided to post the flyers even though the Infowars Obama Joker Poster Contest had ended, because he wanted to alert his neighbors to the cult of personality being manufactured around Obama and how the establishment is stifling any criticism of the President by constantly invoking racism.

Fuhre believed that he had a first amendment right to express his opinion, just as those that spray painted giant Obama “HOPE” murals in the same neighborhood had done without opposition.

Kingswood is near Dallas, long way from Houston.

The link at the top of thread is broken.

The headlines described “Houston.

Being from Houston would seem to be irrelevant to the content of the article if the incident happened hundreds of miles away and it is being written about in a Chicago paper.

I’ll grant that this did not happen in Houston. I’ll also point out that the police in Houston have not used such tactics when the Left has engaged in them on a regular basis (same locations are repeatedly “hit”).

What you describe is everything that makes living in an American City a nightmare. A law or a rule for everything because people don’t want to get along with each other on a personal level and demand the government intervene to regulate unicorn farts.

If you want to report abuse you can but sometimes that will get you kicked instead.

If you are truly two separate posters you have been here a combined scant few weeks so maybe THAT is why you might get kicked instead.

You clearly don't know your own laws either, dude. Why don't you get your facts straight before admonishing others.

Oh, and the fact that you're a n00b means you are highly suspect.

That is a reasonable point. I can speak on behalf of the limited things of which I’m aware, and the Twitter comments were extremely damning of Ted. As for other things, well, I know he hosts BigGovernment.com and Big Hollywood, both of which are giving some strong outlets for conservative voices.

Fact is, I see fliers and notices posted on poles at intersections every day. During election years, it’s standard practice here in Houston. If these “laws” are being selectively enforced (and I believe they are and will continue to be more and more against right-wingers/conservatives)....the laws become immaterial. If we are a nation of laws, those laws must be color blind AND party affiliation neutral.

Such is not the case. That’s the fact and the reality.

The "Billboard" laws discussion is applicable though because of the painted mural on the side of the building in Houston.

If that was a CocaCola mural or Britney Spears album mural, it would still be regulated.

"Billboard" technically refers to offsite advertising (which is why Alabama Bookstop advertising a show at Alley Theater on their marque qualifies as a billboard). The yellow building in question is a business but it also has served as a campaign office at times. Unclear just what may or may not be regulated.

http://www.publicworks.houstontx.gov/planning/enforcement/signadmin.htm

http://documents.publicworks.houstontx.gov/document-center/sign-administration/sign-code/details.htm

SIGN shall mean any outdoor display, design, pictorial or other representation that shall be so constructed, placed, attached, painted, erected, fastened or manufactured in any manner whatsoever so that the same shall be used for advertising. The term "sign" shall include the sign structure. Every sign shall be classified and conform to the requirements of each of such classifications set forth in this chapter.

SECTION 4619--ABATEMENT OF OFF-PREMISE SIGNS

(c) Exclusion. The provisions of this section shall not be construed to require the removal of a structure that is used exclusively and at all times (except when there is no copy at all on the structure) for messages that do not constitute advertising, including, but not limited to, political messages, religious or church related messages, public service, governmental and ideological messages and other copy of a nature that is not commercial advertising because such a structure is not a "sign" (either on-premise or off-premise), as that term is defined, for purposes of this chapter and is not subject to regulation under this chapter.

--- The size of the sign and the nature of the building may play a role. But it may also get a pass since it went from being an AD for the candidacy of Barack to a tribute to the President. Only it wasn't a tribute the office of president. It was a tribute to Barack Obama and remains such. If Alan Keyes or Michael Williams wins the White House in 2012, don't expect a mural honoring either of these black presidents on that wall.

Mayor Lee P. Brown (D) spent a day riding around in a city vehicle picking up rivals’ campaign signs posted in the public areas.

Yes indeedy. On one hand the leftists encourage their minions to break the “law” and post grafitti. On the other hand, they selectively enforce that “”law””, as we are seeing re: this story about Fuhre. My ex keeps having to paint his fence (corner lot) because the little creeps in the neighborhood gangs (we’re talking under 15, btw) keep painting profanity on it.

Our illustrious DemocRat mayor has made it rather expensive for ANYone to ignore such grafitti. Even if they are sick and unable to paint over it, they have a short time limit in which to get rid of the grafitti before being fined. Another classic case of the idiot left punishing the innocent while letting the guilty skate free.

Oh, I have no doubt about that. He probably even had some of his ‘city employees’ doing the same. Some of which were probably even ACORN affiliated.

That’s where we’re at. It’s impossible to wrest control of the city away from these leftist morons. They are now also making it impossible to regain control of the country.

Something’s gotta give. And soon.

The city does not lead by example. Graffiti on public property is not cleared within 2 weeks. It stays up for months. They DO eventually get around to painting over it.

Of course. But private citizens, in neighborhoods, many of which are retired and on social security (fixed incomes), and some in ill health, are expected to clean it up immediately or within ten days. To add insult to injury, most of these "grafitti artists" are illegals. And it's only going to get worse under the Obamanation.

If you see a building or fence that's been painted with gun-metal gray paint, it's because you can get all you want of that color free from the city. That's the color that they end up with when they add or combine all the other colors.

Dude, you are a fool if you try to claim that TX is easy on libs. Try looking at the stats. After the last election, TX was the most conservative state, second only to ND, in the U.S.
Your argument is stupid since TX is by far more conservative than any other state.

Nobody is disagrees that some cops lie or embelish their reports, but not every cop is a crook.
However, you can’t claim that all of the people accused of committing the crimes don’t lie because most often they do too.
You must have been arrested or fined for doing something wrong and you must have a deep grudge against cops because your arguments don’t make sense.
You don’t know that the cops did anything wrong in this instance. You don’t know that they didn’t. However, you are assuming, just because they are cops, that they are lying the the protester is completely innocent. If you believe that than I’ve got some ocean front property for sale in Arizona for you.

You’re trying to compare the NYPD to TX law enforcement. That proves you are not a Texan and have no knowledge of Texas cops. Most, not all, TX cops are very conservative.

You claim the cops have a bad attitude, but have you ever seen a jaywalker or speeder tell a cop thank you for giving them a ticket? Of course not! They tell the cop that they weren’t speeding or that everyone else was speeding too or that they were targeted by the cops. That tends to develop a “me vs. them” attitude in cops.

Again and again, you compare Houston laws for signage to Kingwood signage laws. These are DIFFERENT cities with DIFFERENT laws. Why don’t you seem to understand this?

What does “breaking away from England” have anything to do with it?
This article is about a guy posting flyers illegally, possibly on private & public property.
So are you saying that we should just defy any and every law that we don’t like?
Laws are in place to protect our rights. If people are allowed to vandalize property without the property owners consent then they are infringing on our property rights.
