HOUSTON -- A Houston man said police were called and citations were issued because of his posters of President Barack Obama, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.
Mark Fuhre, 21, admits to hanging the controversial signs which prompted concern for different reasons from neighbors, police and political party leaders.
Fuhre said he was detained by police after posting the signs around his Kingwood neighborhood. The signs depict the president with his face painted like the Joker from Batman.

There’s no such thing as the 1st amendment in a Marxist regime—unless, of course, it touts the “magnificent virtues” of communist slavery.
Depends on where he was posting them. I like the image, but you can’t go around putting posters on other people’s property. Any more details about what happened?
I don’t think he can just post obama posters “around the neigborhood”—or garage sale signs, for that matter.
Kingwood is partly in the city of Houston, but it’s a sort of suburbia of its own, well out of the downtown area and well into the outer reaches. Middle class, good schools. Low crime rate.
I only mention it because there are commenters on that site that think this happened in some high crime area in Houston.
If I am not mistaken, Kingwood is where George Bush Sr lives. Or is it River Oaks?
read the article. A Democrat was taking them down.
Nope, Bush lives in Tanglewood. Kingwood is ok, but its not Tanglewood. I live in Kingwood and didn’t manage to see these posters. Oh well.
I am REALLY trying to remember a story like this during Bush’s 8 year term. Nope. Don’t remember any story like this.
Nah, there’s no double-standard. Conservatives tolerate freedom of speech. For socialists, it is just lip service, then they shut you up.
I don't know all the details, but, I think the police acted "stupidly".
Really, if someone was putting up Barry's picture in my neighborhood, I'd want them removed. He should just keep this in mind when election time roles around.
Time to get the cheap paint and bedsheets and do some overpass redecorating.
Seriously, Soooo Seriously
I did before and I read it again now. It doesn’t say where he was posting them.
Neither...he lives in the Post Oak area.
I think he lived in Springfield across the street from Homer before Ford moved in.
On a serious note, If you can't hold garage sales then naturally one is prevented from plastering signs all over the neighborhood.
Would posting garage sale signs lead to the perpetrator getting cited for vandalism and criminal mischief (after getting roughed up)?
What exactly was vandalized? No property damage of any kind. How is posting a sign a criminal act?
(These questions aren't really aimed at you, SJ)
There was a picture of one of the DC demonstrators wearing an Obama mask, a crown, and a purple robe. I can’t find it now. Can anyone reply to this with the pic? Thanks!
Thanks for the reminder....I need to put some joker posters up over the weekend. ;)
