Back in 2004, when he was the editor of a conservative magazine at Rutgers University, James O'Keefe III mounted a satirical campaign to ban Lucky Charms cereal from campus dining halls on the premise the breakfast fare was offensive to Irish-Americans.
The operation, which included a hidden-camera video with a Rutgers dining services official, was intended to demonstrate what O'Keefe saw as the absurdity of political correctness.
Two years later, while a law student in California, the Bergen County native took on larger prey, using the same undercover tactics to expose crooked counselors at Planned Parenthood.
Now, with a string of shocking hidden-camera videos on the national group ACORN, O'Keefe has scored his biggest coup, stirring up a tempest that has resulted in a criminal investigation of ACORN employees, a denunciation of the group by the White House and congressional action to cut off millions of dollars in funding.
"The tone of my videos is unique," said O'Keefe in a telephone interview tonight. "I'm not just reporting on something, I'm becoming something I'm reporting on."
And to think, O'Keefe, 25, had planned to spend his year studying for an MBA at Fordham. Grad school will have to wait, said his father, James O'Keefe Jr.
"This has become his work full-time," the elder O'Keefe said today in a telephone interview from the family's Westwood home. "He's an extremely conscientious, hard-working young man, and we're proud of him."
The younger O'Keefe, a former Eagle Scout who graduated from Westwood High School, and a friend, 20-year-old Hannah Giles, a journalism student at Florida International University, spent their summer traveling to ACORN offices across the nation. The group -- formally known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now -- helps the poor seek housing help from the government and conducts voter-registration drives.(continued)

They have done the job the MSM has refused to do — investigative journalism.
These young people are awesome. I love his satire to ban Lucky Charms. Hilarious.
They are doing something on their own with meager resoruces that the ENTIRE freaking “journalism” industry was incapable of doing.
The majority of corrupt journalists are ignoring the story. Why? Because Obama *IS* ACORN.
I watched the Lucky Charms tape, funny stuff. At times I thought it seemed O'Keefe must have had a hard time trying to control his laughter, as he kept rubbing his head and face.
He is a real asset to America.
Watch the 2 Lucky Charms videos at the link! LOL
A true American hero. He is a gem. Keep those video comin’!
After ACORN, then SEIU, then Congress, then Jesse and Al’s shakedown rackets, then Al Gore and the global warming BS, then .......
They will have jobs for the next 100 years.
He has done us all, every AMERICAN a good service. Everyone will be happy, except Jimmy Carter.
Did you read the comments to the article? We really have a clueless society.
These kids are light years ahead of the Repubes who do nothing but react in horror to the liberals insanity. Illustrate the absurd by being absurd...
O’Keefe & Giles will have to wait for an honest admin before getting their deserved Medal of Freedom
LOL!! Wonder how Jimmy Carter likes being thrown under the bus by Obama? That was so funny when I heard it.
I am so impressed with this young couple and what they are doing. This is what journalism is all about and what many members of the MSM have forgotten if they ever knew or cared.
Go RUTGERS!!!!!!!!! FANTASTIC!!!!
UTGERS Brings Down The Harvard Law Review Phantom!!
I am a little concerned that there is so mucb personal info about them here, as the foaming-at-the-mouth libs are determined to harm them in some way.
Uh-oh, ACORN had better not assume those videos were the last.
Wow, this is the same guy who did the Planned Parenthood statutory rape stings!
He’s amazing. He’d better watch his back.
His affectedly halting, falsely shocked and morose manner is HILARIOUS..!
The key appears to be to keep it funny.
One of the things that boosts the funniness is the apparent complete inability of the administrator to see the funniness of it all —clearly part of her job has required her to listen to SO MANY serious allegations of ridiculous B.S. that she CANNOT see the humor of it.
Were she to laugh —she might be sued, or lose her job.
Here is the dagger pointed at their heart —going forward, even if they KNOW they are getting stung and suspect a camera is lurking, they have NO CHOICE but to take it all in in funereal earnestness.
We sort of.... **have them by the balls**.
