Rep. Dana Rohrabacher became one of only seven Republicans today to vote in favor of a resolution chastising South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson for his now-famous you lie remark during President Barack Obamas health reform speech last week.
The vote was 240-179. It was largely a party-line vote with 12 Democrats voting no and seven Republicans voting yes. Besides Rohrabacher, the rest of the Orange County delegation voted along party lines.
I wasnt surprised. Rohrabacher, who was sitting behind Wilson the night of the presidents speech, told me that night that he thought his colleagues action of saying you lie when Obama said the health care bill wouldnt cover illegal immigrants was rude and inexcusable.

Wilson ALREADY APOLOGIZED!!! OBAMA SAID HE ACCEPTED WILSON’S APOLOGY!!!
There’s more going on with Rohrbacher than his concerns about manners.
Dana is a RINO, like most Cal. Republicans. My apologies to Issa, Hunter and Gallegly.
Looks like B-1 Bob was right about Dana Rohrabacher!
Orange County isn’t even part of America anymore. Until they get that situation straightened out they shouldn’t be allowed to speak negatively of other “real” Republicans.
That’s quite a surprise. Rohrabacher is definitely one of us. I guess he believes in the Decorum Principle a bit more that most. Go easy on him. He’s basically an OK guy - most of the time.
it is rude and inexcusable” to show any respect for communism
Bob was almost always right.
We will remember who let us down come election time!
Very disappointing! Another RINO in the making? Stand up!! Mr congressman. Quit kissing up to the socialists and show some cojones.
Principles should work for us when they can, and against us when they must. Both Flake and Rohrabacher have the "against us when they must" part down. Now they need to work on the "for us" part.
I can understand why some GOP would criticize a fellow GOP on the grounds of decorum. I agree with you. Look, I do not agree with Obama, and even less as time goes on, but he is the POTUS on TV addressing the nation and is seen by people in foreign countries. You do not diss him. Now when the cameras are off, and we are amongst our fellow Americans, go ahead and take the POTUS for his lies.
Well hopping into bed with the enemy is inexcusable.
Obama on TV addressing the nation while his speech was being seen in foreign countries said his opponents were lying.
Rohrabacher’s my congressman and he’ll never get my vote again. What a disappointment he’s become!
A few months back, I hand-delivered a large packet of printouts showing that Zero’s COLB is a forgery (Thanks Polarik) and asked his staff to have him look into it. I included my name, full address and phone number and never heard a word back from anyone in his office.
So to Dana I say: When election day rolls around I’m leaving the congressional portion of it blank.
B.S. He was not giving a State of the Union address (which is always interrupted with applause and/or groans on a regular basis anyway). He was giving a policy speech, cloaked in campaign rhetoric. The Lying Democrats had given him standing ovation after standing ovation. He had just finished calling the Republican leadership liars. Are the Republicans supposed to just sit on their hands while they are called liars? That’s ridiculous. Either you have a rule of decorum that applies to all, or it applies to nobody.
I don’t give a rats ass whether the whole world was watching. Frankly, I doubt they were, when even a small percentage of this country was watching. Why does Japan care whether Obama gets his Government Ruined Healthcare?
The president, in his speech, was “dissing” (to use your word) you, me, and all the other patriots who disagree with him. Just why in the hell can’t he be dissed by one measly congressperson with the guts to call him out on his lies?
With respect, you are wrong on this. There hasn’t been decorum in the U.S. Congress probably since 1789. That’s a complete non-starter.
What does it mean to claim you’re a republican today? Wilson gave me a reason to reconsider the republican party. Looks like the party has some more colon cleansing to do.
Bullcrap about them being principled conservatives! If that was the case they would have demanded that Rangel and a slew of other Democrats also get the same treatment in the same vote. They allowed this to be a partisan attack against one man and they joined ranks with the enemy.
F them!
These republicans haven't said boo about it. So I am curious as to what principle these principled men are standing for.
