War As Wimbledon

War is a game to our politicians now. War used to be something that happened only when we are given no choice. Our leaders pulled together, our country pulled together, and we put all our might in defeating the enemy. When forced to fight, we pulled no punches. Our generals ran the war and told the country what it needed to win. We bombed the enemy, we shot the enemy, and we made sure the enemy suffered as much as possible. Much to my disgust, war now has a series of ‘rules’ designed to hamper our troops and make us drag wars out longer than they have to be, mainly because our politicians are strangely concerned with the sensibilities of our enemies.

War is a game to these people, and its a game in which victory is considered to be optional. From the day our troops entered the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan all we’ve heard from “some” of our politicians has been “exit strategy”.

And now that the Obamists have control of the war they said they’d fight full out, they are looking around again for an excuse to declare victory and pull out. Sorry, your enemies aren’t impressed by your unilateral declaration of victory as you head for the parking lot.

Staff officers in various countries are watching our military efforts and drawing their own conclusions. You can make book on the fact when they think that they can knock us off, they will be on their way. Add to the mix food shortages and unemployment riots and it is Katie bar the door.

War fighting is the art without which all other arts can’t exist. Because if we are not skillful at war, someone will be jamming a bayonet up you tocus and doing other unpleasant things to your wife and kids.
