MOMBASA, Kenya — The mother of a top al-Qaida fugitive who was killed in a U.S. raid in Somalia demanded today to see her son's body while a Somalia-based group claimed him as their leader and confirmed his death.

Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, a 30-year-old Kenyan, was wanted for the 2002 car bombing of a beach resort in Kenya and a failed attempt to shoot down an Israeli airliner. Three senior U.S. officials familiar with Monday's commando raid confirmed he was killed.

Aisha Abdallah told the Associated Press she wants "to see the body of my son before it is buried."

"My son has never been a terrorist," said Abdallah, dressed in an orange and black headscarf in her modest, four-room apartment in this steamy coastal city.

Nabhan was a senior instructor for new recruits for a Somali militia called al-Shabab, according to National Public Radio. The recruits included a handful of young Somali-Americans from Minneapolis, NPR said.

"My son has never been a terrorist,"

Guess what Ma, your feeble mind didn't keep up with your son's demented attitude toward humanity....or has it?

Do they all work at the John Morrell plant? I grew up in Sioux Falls and remember school field trips of the plant and being offered a hot dog afterward. No thanks!

About a 1/4 of the kids' parents worked for Morrell, good paying jobs back in the day.

Sad to see and hear what's become of my old hometown. I get back quite often to visit my parents. Haven't been to diversity day at the Falls yet, though. LOL

Morrells employs still 3000 people or so, jobs shared by illegals, and new immigrants, mainly. Morrells isn’t today what it was back even 15 years ago, the city has grown immensely and Morrells is a blip on the screen. They threatened to close up shop last year, probably looking for incentives to stay, but no one said boo, because everyone actually from here wishes it would close up shop so we could have that prime downtown real estate back. The stockyards closed up, so I expect Morrells is soon to be history.

I hope Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan had a chance to enjoy a case or two of Summit beer over at St. Paul.
