CORAL GABLES, Fla. An apparent dispute between two teenage boys at a South Florida high school Tuesday left one dead from a knife wound and the other in police custody.
The school, Coral Gables High, was locked down, and students had to remain in classrooms after the authorities were alerted to the stabbing.

WHy is the NYTimes covering this... is there more to it?

“Another parent who declined to be identified said her daughter called and said that she had seen the incident and that the two boys were arguing over a girl.”
Sounds like Romeo and Juliet or West Side Story.
Something normal to quarrel over, for a change.
When did schools start getting “locked down”? It sounds like they’re prisons.
Perp white and victim black probably
If its about a girl, who knows.
Sometime prior to the Columbine shootings.
Will be interesting in light of the recent bus incident that wasn’t “racial” since the victim was white.
It would really suck to be a kid right now. Everything is so controlled and regimented for them, all in the name of safety and security.
There are schools that are so morally, spiritually, and physically toxic that it would be better for a child never to attend. No, formal education would be better than to endure what many children suffer every day in their schools. ( I **seriously** mean it.)
Coral Gables High School student population numbers over 3,600 and reflecs the ethnic diversity of Miami-Dade County. Its student body consists of 79.2 percent Hispanic, 10.5 percent White, Non-Hispanic, 8.4 percent African American, and 1.9 percent Asian or Other nationalities.

Will the libs demand that all knives be registered now?

Government schools **are** prisons for children who have committed no crime.
Inside, just like adult prisoners, children's First Amendment Rights are strictly curtailed and regulated by the government school guards ( oops! teachers and principals). Then when a child **rationally** rebels against being treated like a prisoner and refuses to be a compliant prisoner ( oops! “student”), his wardens send to “lock down” ( juvenile detention)
There two ways in which prisoners are treated better than government school inmates. Adult prisoners are not segregated by age, and their economic and racial backgrounds are more diverse. There used to be three ways, but now that Johnny Cash is dead, adult prisoners no longer get free concerts by the Man in Black.
Both were Hispanic. I live near that school.
How far is that from Opa-Locka? About 25 minutes?
