Sen. Charles Grassley, one of three Republicans negotiating with Democrats on a Senate Finance Committee health care bill, tonight issued a statement saying he and his fellow Republicans have been "pushed aside" by the Democratic leadership in the rush to pass national health care. "We're operating under an artificial deadline set by the Democratic leadership and the White House," Grassley said. "I'm disappointed because it looks like we're being pushed aside by the Democratic leadership so the Senate can move forward on a bill that, up to this point, does not meet the shared goals for affordable, accessible health coverage that we set forth when this process began." Grassley pointed to a number of major problems -- cost, mandates, medical liability reform, abortion, illegal aliens -- that have still not been resolved in the committee's negotiations.
"On top of all that, theres no guarantee that a Finance Committee bill, even if it becomes bipartisan, will stay that way after it leaves the committee," Grassley said. "An overriding issue for some time has been the fact that members of the Democratic leadership haven't made a commitment to back a broad bipartisan bill through the entire process."
Legislation that affects every American, as a national health care bill would, "should have strong bipartisan support," Grassley said.
Grassley, get a clue. They don’t need you.
If any Republicans sing on to this travesty, they’re nuts. Let the Dems own it.
Sounds a touch whiney. Give'em hell everyday Chuck!
He says it like it’s a bad thing.
Grassley would get pushed aside at a nursing nome cafeteria line.
The public option is a shoo-in at this point. Post-health care speech, Ogabe’s numbers have spiked 10 points. Looks like he’s gonna go for broke.
Grassley, any Repub that even talks with a democrat has my contempt. Sorry, the time for discussions is over. Agreeing with these loons on any part of the health bill is analogous to agreeing on the differences between partially dead and mostly dead.
Elections and your actions while in office have consequences Senator. Your party did a horrible job on so many fronts the country kicked as many of your party’s members out of office as possible the past two elections even if it meant that the democrats would win.
If you were so interested in preventing stuff like this from happening then perhaps you should have represented the people in this country better.
Good! They ought to be pushed aside because the GOP is a bunch of durn nihilists who do not know how to “act.” They can only react. The GOP really is the party of “No.” Now, if Obamacare is a big huge frigging mess, which I suspect it will be, then the stupid GOP can fix it when and if they ever get back into power.
parsy, who says since the GOP has pretty much sat around with its finger up its nose for years, they ought to be treated like the obstructionistic bunch of twits they are.
Coming back to earth....
You may be right. From Rasmussen:
Just 12% of voters nationwide believe most opponents of the Presidents plan are racists. Republicans and unaffiliated voters overwhelmingly reject that notion but Democrats are more evenly divided.
This more or less means only blacks believe opponents of Ogabe's plan are racists.
Don’t whine, Chuck. You’re the one who made yourself into a useful idiot, providing cover for Baucus and the rest of the left. And now they don’t love you any more? You were a dumb a$$ for years on the Judiciary committee and nothing has changed, Chuckie.
Good. I don’t want a single GOP hand in this...this should be the Dems chance to destroy their party all by themsleves.
Would this affect his ratings? Would people still be willing to believe in him if they perceieved him as honsetly dumping this turkey? Or has this gone to long to stage a turn-around?
But I still would think what I think about him..............
Chuck, dude, they think you're lower than slime.
Grassley and the rest of the RINO’s need to man-up on this one. The DhimmiRats have enough votes to ram this sludge down our throats. The Pubbies need to let them, and make damns sure the world knows it.
