what I Saw at the Revolution (T Party essay from American Thinker)
American Thinker ^ | 9/16/09 | Kathy Garriott

Posted on 09/16/2009 8:47:16 AM PDT by Mamzelle

"Do you think there'll be porta-potties?" Was the anxious question my husband asked. He's in his fifties, after all. He asked about restroom facilities several days before we left for DC, and enjoined me to "find out on the internet" because he thinks I can find out anything on the internet. It was from the various conservative blogs and forums that I haunt on the net that had inspired me to put together this trip to DC in the first place. Like most tea-partiers, I am only loosely affiliated with any of the organizers. I was anxious about restrooms, too, and anxious about the notorious summer heat and humidity of our nation's capitol. I'm in my fifties, after all. I knew the organizers of this event were not professionals (and I mean that in the nicest way) and things like adequate porta-potties might not have crossed their radar

There were not enough Porta_potties, but people were polite anyway.

Great report. My only gripe is that PA Ave. is not four lanes, it's eight, with a center median lane. I didn't realize that till walking back to the metro and PA Ave. had been reopened to traffic. When you're on it with so many people, you have no idea.

This is one of the finest write-ups I have read. It captures the spirit perfectly!

This essay and the comments that follow on American Thinker brought tears to my eyes. I’m kicking myself for not going. Next time, I’ll be there in spirit AND body!

Yeah.. I waited in line for over an hour. But at least I got to use the big green one on the end. SO worth waiting for! ;-)

As we ambled away from the Capitol, some youthful local man with a soft round face and early balding scalp, sporting the prerequisite wispy uptown Van Dyke, muttered in a high-pitched tone that conveyed a kind of agonized squeamishness, "These people need to get out of my city."

I'm understanding Andrew Jackson more and more every time one of these guys starts bleating. The MSM are full of them.

There was a video of the green Porta Potties being hauled by pick up trucks that had the names of senators on each one. the one with Patty Murry probably was well used :-0

It was a lot of fun. And we were like a big family reunion.

Other than the ACORN people selling flags and a couple of ACORN people carrying banners thru the crowd to get attention.

And the one toothless man who wouldn’t be quiet and claimed he didn’t know an ACORN from a nut.

Wow, I relieved myself on Patty Murray!! Would prefer it was Hairy Reid, but Patty will do.

Great article that really captures the spirit. We just got back tonight. Decided to make some side trips to Mount Vernon and Gettysburg. On top of the rally, it was the most excellent adventure ever. Met people from Nebraska, Indiana, California, Georgia, Florida...just to name a few. The moment we walked out onto Pennsylvania Avenue Saturday morning and started walking toward the dome of the the Capitol, in step with people who looked like our neighbors—its something I will never forget!
