maybe a stunt,maybe not

Not. McMahon has the tacit support of RINO Governor Jodi Rell. That would be a reason for opposing her, except the other candidates are also RINOs.

Our Common Values PAC is or was run by Rahm Emmanuel.

Forward Together PAC belongs to Mark Warner.

So this is for real in your opinion - not just a stunt?

It's for real. McMahon has a high profile seat on the State Board of Education and is a major Republican fundraiser. She has steep competition but I think she'll have strong backing from the Governor's people.

She can self-finance, which is absolutely necessary to beat better known candidates like Simmons and Caligiuri. Tom Foley will have a ton of money too, from the country club set, and Peter Schiff probably has a snowball's chance in hell but can cause real havoc if he raises $20 million or whatever.

There are enough plausible candidates that this thing could get real interesting. I just wish they weren't all RINOs (McMahon is a notorious RINO).

The only good thing that might come of this is McMahon draining support from other RINOs thus helping Schiff, but she may try to run as ‘the outsider’ which could in turn drain potential support from Schiff.

Either way, I suspect her run could be portrayed as ‘look at what the buffoonish wrestling Republican is doing.’ If she turns this into some kind of circus it could help Dodd, regardless of who gets the nomination.

But then, I’ve never even been to CT, so what do I know.

Holy! You guys are not kidding! This is for real. I kind of thought this was a stunt and I posted this for chuckles. This is not a laughing matter now.

So was it also a stunt when the Governor appointed McMahon this spring to a high profile State Board of Education position? Or when McMahon wrote tens of thousands of dollar worth of checks to GOP candidates across the state?

McMahon is a real, live, serious RINO. I'm not sure you get any more RINO -- she's a major underwriter of "Republican Majority for Choice," the pro-abort group, and even contributed to Rahm Emanuel' campaign.

Of course, Simmons, Foley and Caligiuri aren't really any better, although Caligiuri has at least been taking a fairly conservative line in his campaign rhetoric.

Sounds like she’s campaigning to get Dodd reelected then.

It sure wasn’t a stunt when McMahon donated tens of thousands of dollars to liberal Democratic candidates. She seems to really, really like donating to Rahm for some reason.

It's maybe a little unfair to criticize her for that, because she's the CEO of a major corporation, and corporations have to suck up to whoever is in power. She's definitely a Republican, but living in Greenwich has definitely turned her into a wimpy, left-leaning country club Republican. Must be something in the water. What's ironic is that the real old money set would never deign to associate themselves with the likes of Linda or Vince McMahon.

Also, McCain-Feingold means her ability to self-finance gives her a huge advantage, especially in the primary.

RINO, conservative, or in-between, Linda McMahon doesn't have a chance no matter what her views are. All her opponents need to do is show clips of the WWE. I don't think many independents, especially independent women are going to vote for her once all the clips of "puppies" from the show are going to air.

Democrats won't vote for her because of all the comments about Gore and Lieberman from back in 2000 when I watched the show. King and JR took a ton of shots at them.

I smell another Rahm Emanuel bait-and-switch going on. Rahmbo recruited all the “conservative” Dems that ran in 2006, once elected they dove left at the command of Pelosi.

Fake wrestling is more entertaining than fake senatoring, though I don’t really like either.

With wrestling, at least there's some half-naked good-lookin' guys. I can't think of any senators I'd want to see in less than full attire.

WOW! I never thought of it like that. Like some Machiavellian thing by him to screw up the GOP race? If she wins he has an ally if she loses she takes down the GOP and win win for him?
