Twelve percent (12%) of voters nationwide believe that most opponents of President Obamas health care reform plan are racist. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 67% of voters disagree, and 21% are not sure.
In recent days, several Democrats have suggested that racism is a factor. The most prominent to make that accusation is former President Jimmy Carter.
Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Republicans reject the notion that most of the opponents are racist. So do 78% of voters not affiliated with either major party. However, just 39% of Democrats share that view. Twenty-two percent (22%) of those in the presidents party say that most of the opposition to his plan comes from racists, and another 39% are not sure.
*snip*
Only one percent (1%) of those opposed to the health care plan believe that most of the opposition comes from racists.
Among Obamas strongest supporters, those who Strongly Approve of his job performance, 35% say most opponents are racists, 32% disagree and 33% are not sure.
Among African-American voters, 27% say most opponents are racist, 25% disagree, and 48% are not sure.
Fifty percent (50%) of white Democrats reject the charge of racism, but 15% say its true.

“The May 1, 2008 Census Bureau report, covering estimates for the year 2007, confirms that the U.S. population is becoming increasingly diverse. Hispanics and Asians continue to be the two fastest-growing minorities. Blacks comprise the second-largest minority group, with 40.7 million (13.5 percent), followed by Asians, with 15.2 million (5 percent). (America.gov, May 14, 2008.)”
That percentage seems about right.
That leaves 75% of blacks that do believe anything said against Obama is racist and some of us have witnessed it first hand with an arrogance that makes no sense.
I like this. It is smoother than "racialist." Perhaps not as explicitly correct as "race baiter," but shorter.
Racer. The "racers" in the Black Caucus. The "racers" at MSNBC. The "racers" at the NYT. Racer.
Which means that 12% of the voters polled are the real racists.
“Neil Kinnock? I thought he was the main speech writer :)”
Ah fergit....
I think that 12% all post on DU..they are praising Carter for stating the “truth”
let the MSM and the RATs continue toward this dry well... they are inviting one of the largest political backlashes in American history.
The race card is so threadbare you can see through it. "We" elected a black president - their is no more fall back reason for this flimsey excuse.
I am seriously amazed at this.
12% isn’t even all the blacks!
It is NOT even a mere MAJORITY of [Blacks, Hispanics+ Libnuts]
In fact, it may represent Libnuts only!
This is really heartening.
Maybe America is growing up, finally! (The 60’s libnuts will never grow up)
Excellent.
May I practice in public?
Perennial loser, and RACER Jimmy Carter, today proclaimed that Racism is driving anti-Obama protests.
Talentless celebrity and habitual in-your-face hateful RACER, Kanye West disrupted the proceedings at some who-gives-a-$hit music awards ceremony Sunday night, by interupting the acceptance speech of the WHITE winner.
How’d I do?
Excellent comment. Calling someone/something racist is the RACE-BAITER’S ATTEMPT to shut down debate, discussion or any activity that the RACE-BAITER CANNOT CONTROL. Ignore the RACE-BAITER’S comment, let it roll off your back and carry on! Understanding that name calling is the RACE-BAITER’S “game,” will allow you to “play” this game to YOUR advantage...just ignore it.
What divides our country has nothing to do with skin color or religion.
You are either an AMERICAN, or you are a SCAMERICAN.
The Speed Racer character of Chim Chim is clearly a denigrating racist portrayal...
And just WHY was Speed’s car white?
May I practice in public? Good job. It's a little harder to use as a verb, but it is possible:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi racers Rep. Joe Wilson in a formal rebuke Tuesday, in an attempt to divert attention that ObamaCare is rapidly losing public support. |
I was accused of being a racist yesterday, by a retired teacher. She also said everyone in Washington over the week-end was a racist. She told me she loves Social Security and Medicare and doesn’t see why anyone would care about the government running health care. I simply asked her how solvent those programs were. I then asked her what she knew about ACORN. She said she hadn’t heard of it I told her to go do some research before she talked to me again and she said she would. I image she is calling her NEA friends for talking points.
I wonder how many of that 12% suckle from the govt teet?
Racist huh? I don’t care that he’s black and white, but that he’s red all over
