Protesting arrogance: The summer of disrespect
NH Union Leader ^ | Sep. 15, 2009 | Masthead Editorial

Posted on 09/15/2009 4:40:08 PM PDT by neverdem

If President Obama and Democrats in Washington continue to dismiss the genuine anger over their health care reform proposals, they will set themselves up for electoral disaster.

Americans came to town hall meetings in July and August to yell at their congressmen, and they marched on Washington on Saturday, because they resent being treated so disrespectfully.

They resent being fed obviously untrue statements about what health care reform would do. They resent having undetailed legislation rushed through without anyone -- even members of Congress -- having read it. (This is at least the second time this year that's happened.)

They resent being called "un-American" and labeled pawns of special interest groups. They resent the suggestion that their questions and concerns are just partisan "bickering."

Americans have been treated shabbily by this President and his party. That treatment is the cause of their anger. It is perfectly obvious. One only has to listen to realize it. And yet Obama is oblivious. He doesn't listen; he only talks.

At this rate, he is going to talk his party out of majority status. Refusing to listen to the people is never a good political strategy.

Lord, Hear Our Prayer.

“Refusing to listen to the people is never a good political strategy.”

It’s been working for RINOS...so far. But I’m thinking not too much longer. :)

We resent being ignored and lied to. That's beyond disrespectful. That's "let them eat cake." Or maybe, another four-letter word.

Its time to take protests to a higher level and boycott one of the three networks.
We have the power if the Freepers would all boycott ABC

“Lord hear our prayer”

There is a suicide thread that runs thru Obamas agenda. It is socialism, Fascism. The more they are allowed to say, the more the American public understands this. Our prayer should be that our cause have the God given wisdom to give the democrats enough rope to hang themselves. Just think if we had of had the wisdom to let Obama deliver his message to the “children” and then have let the NEA proceed with their original directives to school teachers!! How children, can you help the president? Then would have been the time to attack. Be patient, save our ammunition and Obamas agenda will destroy itself.

From your lips to God's ears. The only thing greater than Democrats' ignorance is their arrogance.

untold more damage will be done to America, and American people. Any semblance of trust will be at least a generation removed before anyone in government is trusted again.

You make it sound like that is a bad thing! We are safest when Congress is on recess!

It isn’t a bad thing that congress is out to lunch because they aren’t muffing up. when they are scared of the people, they do good work generally.

True, but concentrate on removing the dead branches first, then the weak ones.

This may be one of the few times in history where we can get the non-conservatives out of the Republican Party.

Obambi and the Dims are making so many Americans mad that if we, the conservative Republicans, can defeat the poseurs in the primaries and get people who espouse real conservative principles into the elections, so many are fed up with the leftist tripe that they will see real conservatism as a breath of fresh air and vote conservatives in.

Harry Reid today said he hoped to get 60 votes for the healthcare plan, but if he didn’t, they would use reconciliation to pass the bill.
