TEL AVIV, Israel — Israeli and Palestinian activists on Tuesday presented the most detailed vision yet of what a peace deal could look like — more than 400 pages crammed with maps, timetables for troop withdrawals and even a list of weapons a non-militarized Palestine would be barred from having.
The manual has no official standing, but has generated interest among Israeli and Palestinian leaders and is meant to show it's still possible to establish a Palestinian state alongside Israel, despite many setbacks, said those involved in the drafting.
The plan's details illustrated the many obstacles that have to be cleared: The plan is complicated and expensive, and the proposed borders would require the removal of tens of thousands of Jewish settlers. There is also the reality on the ground that Hamas militants remain in control of the Gaza Strip. Nonetheless, the activists stressed the progress that had been made and said the plan could serve as a ready-made model for the two sides to work off.
"If you want to resolve the conflict, here is the recipe," said Gadi Baltiansky, a leader of the Israeli team.
The core of the plan is a Palestinian state in nearly 98 percent of the West Bank, all of the Gaza Strip and the Arab-populated areas of Jerusalem. The plan was put together over the past two years by Israeli and Palestinian experts, ex-government officials and former negotiators. It builds on the 50-page outline of a peace deal published in 2003 by the same group, known as the Geneva Initiative.

George Mitchell, Shimon Peres and Bibi Netanyahu want 'peace' with the House of Esau? Get real. Are these activists like Yossi Beilin, who announced some peace plan with some Arabs and nobody cared?
Why, yes it is.
It was irrelevant in 2003, it is irrelevant now.
So?
So it’s the basic, “Israel is to hand over everything and count on the good will of the Islamists and the world to keep it secure” plan?? Jerusalem MUST remain undivided and in the hands of the Israelis. I’d rather send the Palestinians to their UN-mandated national state (now known as Jordan) and bulldoze Hamas out of Gaza into the Mediterrean. Hey, Jordan’s gotten over Black September, when Arafat and his minions attempted to take over the country; Jordan’s queen is a Palestinian so I’m sure her ethnic (?) relatives would now be welcomed with open arms.

Hold still. This won’t hurt for long.
Thanks for that Eagle. I’m looking at it now.
“...and even a list of weapons a non-militarized Palestine would be barred from having.”
Yeah, good luck with that (P.S. Ain’t no such thang as “luck”).
They seem to be operating with this laughable notion that the only thing lacking is a plan. There have been dozens, if not hundreds, of plans out there - it’s the only element of the “peace process” they do have. The problem is getting the Palestinians to adhere to it.
There’s no Palestinian government to adopt any plan, or anyone who really speaks for the Palestinians for that matter. Even in the unlikely event they got the leadership of both Hamas and Fatah on board, splinter factions would just form and keep fighting, as we’ve already seen with groups like the al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade.
No Palestinian government or organization has shows that they’re willing or able to negotiate in good faith. The only people they should be negotiating with at this point are the Jordanians and the Egyptians. I’m not sure what sort of arrangement they can come up with, but those two states are the only ones that are even able to do any good.
Just some dumbasses.
It’s just the usual ‘meeting’ for public consumption.
You can’t have piece with the Arabs. Whatever piece you’re left with, they want that, too. You can, however, have peace with the Arabs. Just give Ramallah back to Jordan, let Hamas keep Gaza, and welcome to it, and then annex the rest of Judah and Shomron, and have Shin Bet kill anyone there in any way associated with the leadership of Hamas or Fatah. The Arabs who are thus annexed will secretly thank you. Only Jordan will be cursing you for sticking them with Ramallah. Let Obama claim credit for this brilliant new plan. That’s all he wants out of the Middle East, anyway, credit if things go right.
