Girl faces deportation over vaccine (Gardasil)

An adopted teen who has lived in Port St. Joe, Fla. since she was 3 faces possible deportation to England for refusing a vaccination, she and her mother say.

Simone Davis, 17, said she has no need for the vaccine Gardasil, which guards against the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus virus, because she is not sexually active, ABC News reported.

But the U.S. government requires female immigrants between the ages of 11 and 26 to receive Gardasil shots before they can become citizens.

Simone was abandoned as a baby in England and adopted at 3 by her paternal grandmother, Jean Davis, who married an American and moved to Port St. Joe, Fla.

Jean Davis started applying for citizenship for Simone nearly 10 years ago, ABC said.

As a devout Christian who has taken a virginity pledge, Simone argues she is in no danger of getting cervical cancer and sees no reason to get the vaccine. American-born girls are encouraged, but not required, to get the vaccine.

Simone and Jean Davis sought a waiver on moral and religious grounds, but were turned down. They have 30 days to appeal the ruling. Without citizenship, Simone can be sent back to England, ABC said.

"I kind of feel like they may be experimenting with immigrants to see how we will react and then give the vaccine to citizens," Simone said. "If it is such a great vaccine, why isn't it mandatory for everyone?"

What part of Violating the terms of your stay. Do you NOT understand?!

Will full defiance of the law by any immigrant here on a CONDITIONAL stay is grounds for deportation.

Obviously you miss the point. Anchor babies are technically natural born citizens well withing their right to stay. But very often I read arguements for their deportation around here.

In this case you have a young girl whom is not a natural born citizen and is here on a CONDITINAL BASIS and whom is WILLFULLY violating the requirements and conditions of here stay.

Does the arguement make sense to you now???

You could always go with the government is in the wrong. We’re also supposed to treat all individuals, without regard to their status as citizens, equally. This law clearly violates that.

No, the argument doesn’t make any sense. She isn’t violating any regulation she is appealing a ruling. It’s right there in the article. She has a right to due process doesn’t she?

So by that standard should convicted criminals be allowed to vote and carry handguns?

“But the U.S. government requires female immigrants between the ages of 11 and 26 to receive Gardasil shots before they can become citizens.”

The entire class of HPV virus strains is mostly a sexually transmitted virus, which means that if a female has the virus she had to get it from a virally active sexual partner. The cases of possible risk from “skin-to-skin” contact has been identified only for cases where one party was identified with genital warts, also found hosting HPV and HPV was found outside the genital region, under the fingernails. For ANYONE to suggest that most every female who obtains this virus got it from someone other than a male carrier she had genital-to-genital or hand-to-genital contact is simply not scientific.

http://www.health-science-report.com/alotek/topics3/article51/

Therefore, here’s the question for the legal beagles:

Does the same law REQUIRE male immigrants between the ages of 11 and 26 to get tested to see if they are carriers of any strain of HPV??? No!!!!!!!

Guess what, and guess why? There is no test yet devised for finding it in the male penis, or in the male urogenital tracts.

Gardasil and its promotion are about two things: another way try to ease young women’s minds about being promiscuous and unwarranted revenue for the maker of Gardasil.

If that were not the case, the federal interest in this would be to develop the tests for it beyond the female cervix swab test, which is the only real test available now; and then, if the fascist lawyers wanted, to require mandatory testing of young-men who have reached or passed puberty, so any HPV-positive-carriers could be identified, and so that they could then be required to tell their sexual partners to be vaccinated against HPV.

Yet, the real kicker is, although HPV cannot be “cured” (cannot be completely killed off by drugs) “HPV usually goes away on its own, without causing health problems. So an HPV infection that is found today will most likely not be there a year or two from now.” http://www.cdc.gov/STD/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm

And yet a sexually active male who is told about genital warts and finds himself noticing he may have it, knows, without any doctor needed, that he most likely has a strain of HPV and should not be sexually active, unless his partner is vaccinated for HPV. Even if he allows that occasion to pass without doing anything about it, and even if it goes away, he may still remain a carrier for some time.

So, why then shouldn’t a young woman care as much about knowing how trustworthy her sexual partner really is - like enough to make a lifetime commitment - before she “hooks up” with him, as she is asked to care about being vaccinated with Gardasil. The fact is, Gardasil itself only offends a few strains of HPV, making it a false promise to begin with.

Again, it really should be a question of personal responsibility and not universal vaccination of a whole class of people, just so that promiscuous and unattached sexual partners can assume, and continue irresponsible behavior with less worry.

As far as I can see, her family married American citizens, and would have received a green card. Which means shes a LEGAL immigrant, no?

And if shes a LEGAL immigrant, then theres no reason to ship her out, is there?

So, equal protection under the law is not only being violated on the grounds of immigration status but on gender status too!?!

Hello... her family married AMERICAN CITIZENS. They would have received GREEN CARDS. That makes them LEGAL IMMIGRANT!

An ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT is not elegible to APPLY FOR CITIZENSHIP, at all, so if she was one, she wouldnt be waiting for this situation in the first place.

Think before you type.

Ordinarily she would have as much right to due process as any other immigrant in violation to the terms of her stay...

Now i’ve been posting here for a long time mind you, so why don’t you take a wild guess as to what the popular opinion is for due process to immigrants in violation of their stay.

Try posing the question and presenting the immigrant as an Abdullah or an Ochoa and tell me your reaction...

But I digress...

In response to your question. Due process is afforded to those whom guilt ha not yet been established. It is clear in this case that the law requires her to take the shot as a condition of her stay. Her reasons for exemption does not guarantee the general safety of the public nor is it just cause to make her an exception when everyone else in her status is required to do it.

Hence willfull violation as to the terms of her stay.

I think that this is crystal clear.
