RUSH: And you enjoyed it for all the reasons that you've mentioned. But we've gotta be really, really careful here, Dana, about this left versus right government thing. You mentioned third party, and we've been through this with Perot.
CALLER: I know that. I know that. And I think Perot helped Clinton get in, I don't doubt that. I do believe there has to be a huge movement before people can vote that way.
RUSH: But a third party is not going to do anything other but ensure the reelection of Obama and every other Democrat running for office because even if you come up with a charismatic third-party presidential candidate, still isn't going to have anybody of any significance running in that party for seats in Congress of the US Senate unless this movement happened to become the majority movement in the country, and that's not what's happening. I respectfully disagree with you here. I understand the anger at the Republican Party. Hell, I've got it, too. I've had it for a long, long time. But don't make the mistake of thinking this is not a left versus right thing. This is a conservative ascendancy that's going on out there. You didn't show up and protest like this when the Republicans were in power.

Its sad to see Rush shilling for the RINO Party again.I agree with Rush. I don't think you understand what he's saying.

Ross Perot helped bring us Clinton. Then again, McCain brought us Obambi.
Realistically, let's try to fix the republican party while it can still be salvaged. After all, there a few GOOD conservatives that still exist there!

Rush is correct. Beck, (and not to the same degree but in different ways) O'Reilly are the people principally pushing this line, and as a recovering Libertarian I hate the "it aint a Right vs. Left" OR "Republican vs. Democrat thing."
Oh yes it is.
It is absolutely Right vs. Left, and since there are not enough voters for two right (or even right-of-center) parties in this Country, that makes it about Republican vs. Democrat. You want an ideologically pure party? Fine. Go join the LP, go join the Constitutional Party. Then you can be pure and have 100% of nothing.
Change the GOP if you want your ideas to have traction.

You are wrong. What 0bama is doing to America is called “Corporatism” which is the economic agenda pursued by Fascists.

Then Rush better get to work finding a real Conservative to lead the GOP because my days of holding my nose and voting for the socialist-lite RINO are over!
A few more years of Fascist Democrat rule and the People will be ready to burn DC to the ground, salt the swamp it sits on, and move the seat of power to Kansas! Why risk losing that kind of righteous fury by electing some elitist RINO for a couple years?

But......we need to make sure that the party comes to us, changing their platforms to a more conservative message. I am not going to move to the left for party unity. I find it harder to take being screwed by a republican than if it were done more quickly by a democrat.
To: seanmerc
Rush is absolutely right. Put conservative candidates in the Republican party and get behind them and support them. Staying at home because people didn’t want to vote for Mc. Cain gave Zero a larger margin. I won’t say that is what elected Zero,But next time that could make the difference.
I didn’t want to vote for Mc. Cain either. but in the end I did because I knew what the alternative was/is.
Athird party run would split the anti Obama vote even more, and would re-elect him.
If Obama wins a second term, white working class people will have to leave the US.

I think he is too, just look at what happened during the Perot effort. While Perot got 19% that was a drain enough to give the election to Clinton.
That said, I think, as Rush has said, America is more a conservative nation overall, and what we see is more a reaction to the potential destruction to the Constitution which is the cement for this country. In addition, across the board, apart from the whack jobs on both the left and right extreme ends of the political parties, there is a jelling of the citizens of the nation against what we don't want to happen. I hope Glenn Beck does not get some notion for a third party. I hope he keeps pushing to awaken the population to the threat to our Republic and to keep that flame alive so that these idiot pols in DC get the message loud and clear that We The People are their employers they are not our rules, they are not the King, Queen and crown princesses, and dukes and lords.

It is far easier and effective for conservatives to get involved in the GOP and make it what they want than to form a new party. Think about it. If conservatives cant even win a Republican primary, then how do they ever expect to win a general election? Exactly.
To: seanmerc
Yep when I was young and foolish I threw my vote away on Perot. NEVER again.

Its simple math. Lets say 33% are ultra conservative, 33% are conservative and 34% are hardcore marxists - the winner in our form of govt - the hardcore marxists. We are a pure democracy?

Rush is absolutely correct, third Parties don’t work.
However, if the Repubs nominate another RINO, I’ll sit it out.
Conservative or bust.

To: seanmerc
I must admit voting for Perot, and therefore Clinton. Henceforth I refused to vote for the lesser of two evils, even to prevent the worse from winning. The two-party system is fatally flawed. We have an illegitimate political system wherein there is really only one party. In a two-party system, the weaker party inevitably becomes an emasculated clone of the stronger.

Well Rushbo then you better hope and pray the GOP leadership in congress finally stops acting like bipartisan Jackass that's been inbred to their first cousins for several generations. Their first cousins of course being the DEMs. Don't blame voters for seeking a third party. Instead blame the GOP leadership in large for always being in bed with their DEM first cousins.

Beware folks: The likes of Romney, Huckabee, or even Palin will do the very same thing.
Third parties are there because the Republicans are corrupt and offering candidates the Conservatives will *not* vote for.
