LONDON (Reuters) - GlaxoSmithKline said on Monday a single shot of its H1N1 swine flu vaccine protected people from the virus, adding to evidence that tight supplies can be stretched further by avoiding the need for two doses.
The British drugmaker is the latest company to report success with a single dose. Results from the first clinical trial with its candidate vaccine showed nearly 100 percent protection three weeks after vaccination.

Thanks. One more for the rest of us.
Obviously you feel very strongly on the matter ... but I don't care to see your personal opinions in the title line of the story. I know, I know, everybody else does it, so you feel compelled to follow the crowd.
Any reason to believe it’s not as good as the polio vaccine? Have you taken that?
Wonder what a Muslim would do when they find out they’re infected with swine/pig flu .....
“One more for the rest of us.”
You honestly want to take this vaccine??? It is POISONOUS!
It’s main ingredient is squalene, which is a natural enhancer to the nervous system and is OK when ingested through the mouth, but if “invaded” into your body by a needle, then your body doesn’t recognize it and attacks all of the squalene in your body, therby shattering your nervous system.
This type of squalene is what caused the “Gulf Syndrome” in our vets coming back from the 1st Gulf War.
Plus, this vaccine hasn’t gone through the rigorous and thorough testing that all vaccines need to go through. They are rushing it into production and it will cause sickness and DEATH to millions of people!
This vaccine must be avoided. I urge you and everyone else NOT to take this vaccine!
Have absolutely no intention of getting the vaccine!!
I’ll leave it for my doctor to decide, not some random person on the internet.
Good for you, but thread worthy?
I am happy to see that the vaccine seems to be coming along.
Oh please, switch to decaf.
I have something of a personal dilemma going on — I just recently completed (successfully, whew) cancer treatments.. The combination of chemo and radiation treatments, they tell me, have left my lungs compromised - which puts me in one of the highest risk groups for H1N1...
On the other hand, I’m really leery of this incompletely tested, but rushed into production, vaccine...
I’m watching this subject, including the debates about it, very carefully.....
“Ill leave it for my doctor to decide”
Good idea! You don’t have to believe me! Talk to your dcotor. There are many doctors that have expressed serious concerns about the vaccine, just as I have.
I don’t understand the aversion of some on FR to vaccines (and other seeminly innoculous medicines/practices.)
The government isn’t mandating you take it. Nobody is comming to your front door with a gun and needle forcing it on you.
What next, we’ll be decrying penicillian as a govt. plot to encourage unmarried sex (which it did, btw, because it alleviated the fear of catching a veneral disease, but I don’t think the developers of penicillian created it for that reason)?
I have yet to see a reasonable answer as to why a voluntary flu shot is equated to destroying our personal liberty by some people.
Isn’t there some old saying about not being the first to try something new? How long does it take Guillain-Barre (from the vaccine that killed more than the Swine Flu in 1976) to show up anyway?
“The government isnt mandating you take it.”
Don’t be so sure of that. Did you hear what they are planning to do in Massachusetts, as a penalty for not taking the vaccine?
$1,000 PER DAY AND 30 DAYS IN PRISON!!!!!
It won’t be long before the Obama regime mandates it to the entire nation.
“Wonder what a Muslim would do when they find out theyre infected with swine/pig flu .”
They’ll call it an American attack meant to wipe out muzzies.
I don’t have time to look for the link, but an imam/mullah has already issued a fatwah against the swine flu. Muslims are forbidden to get it.
My wife is a pharmacist and she says no way is she getting this vaccine.
