Iran Snubs Barack Obama's Nuclear Talks

Iran has dealt a blow to one of President Barack Obama's most ambitious diplomatic initiatives by dismissing demands to put its nuclear programme at the heart of direct talks with the United States.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - Iran dealt a blow to one of President Barack Obama's most ambitious diplomatic initiatives by dismissing demands to put its nuclear programme at the heart of direct talks with the US

Less than 48 hours after Washington and its allies reluctantly accepted an offer of face-to-face negotiations from Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president, insisted that the topic of greatest interest to the West would not be on the table.

"From the Iranian nation's viewpoint, the nuclear case is closed," he told Britain's ambassador to Tehran, Simon Gass. "Having peaceful nuclear technology is Iran's lawful and definite right and Iranians will not negotiate with anyone over their undeniable rights."

In a rambling five-page document presented to western diplomats last week, Iran proposed negotiations on a wide array of economic and regional security issues but made no mention of its nuclear activities.

After responding with initial coolness, the United States defied expectations by taking up the offer to negotiate directly for the first time since Mr Obama came to power. The US president had promised during his election campaign to hold unconditional talks with Iran.

Obama will just “minimize” the issue.

Like the Europeans who took front and center in 2005-2006 saying they would negotiate, he'll just now let this issue fade and take a rear burner, now that he can't exploit it for any political capital and will get stuck in the same mess Bush W, Clinton, Bush H, Reagan, and Carter were in regards Iran. You CANNOT negotiate with Iran.

When on the campaign trail, Obama like these freeloading European states exploited the issue Iran, but in reality this problem like so many will only get dealt with if the US takes the initiative and Obama’s little sound bites of “peace love happiness” were just crap that well, sounded good, like free universal and unlimited health care. Saying pretty flowery things might make people fall in love with one, but delivering is another story.

Obama’s defense will be to downplay and ignore these issues. This administration will simply press the mute button. But that won't fix the problem of course.

Ever since he somehow managed to win last November, I’ve been saying that leaders like Ahmadinejad were going to (metaphorically) eat him for lunch with half their brains tied behind their backs because they KNOW Obama is an IDIOT!

The Brits truly see the truth of Obama better than a lot of Americans.

HHhhmmmm...Do I sense a pattern here, dictators, fanatics and bad actors worldwide have no respect for our current leader. Funny, neither do we. Does anyone besides the main stream media?

Reluctantly accepted? Says who? Obama and the leftist extremists have been dreaming for this moment to come.
