As was stated many times before in the forum, that picture is not from 9/12 but instead from '97 (Promise Keepers rally). Please have it pulled or subtitled. Thanks.

Agree; my favorite as well. I wore my NRA cap (and I’m a middle aged woman!) which seemed to shock a few passersby. We were here in L.A. right on Wilshire Blvd. and vehicles were zipping by — it’s four lanes each way on that street — very heavy traffic.

When a carload of thugs flipped us off or yelled nasty remarks, I just grinned and pointed to the “NRA” on my cap. More than one car sped away, quickly rolling windows up as they went. I loved it.

For every one that actually went through the trouble of showing up, there must be at least 25 that feel the same way but couldn't go for one reason or another to the different rallies across the country.

3 million x 25 = we win. Big. Epic.

That’s not a pic from yesterday. That is from the awesome Promise Keepers rally in 1997. Yesterday’s pic from that angle would be similar...but that is not one.

Not a word of coverage in the online edition of my hometown paper. I googled protest and got a September 7, 2009 article on protest in South Africa. I am too furious to look at the print copy at the moment to see if there is even a mention. The only reason we still take this paper is for the word puzzles.

If someone were to create a daily website with Crossword, Sudoku, Jumbo, Word Search, and Cryptogram puzzles; as well as Horoscope, and Bridge columns; AND no commercials, would anyone be willing to pay 25% of their annual newspaper subscription to receive it instead of their liberal AP rag?

You are very welcome...glad I could help. Wish I had been there, but was down with a blown-out ankle.

Will be there in the summer of 2010 at whatever event is planned at that time so we can deliver our petition and signatures to congress.

Based on my crowd-counting experience over the years when exiting the NFL’s largest stadium (93K plus), I’d say it was, at a minimum, twice that crowd.

Just curious, where did you find the 20,000 number for the Ft Worth rally? The Startlegram posted on their website it was only 1,000. I was there and it was defintely in the thousands. I talked to people there who had come to Ft Worth from Houston, Tyler and Amarillo. The local TV channels gave it next to no coverage at all.

Jeff you are correct. Here’s the Promise Keepers’ \”Stand in the Gap” photo as shown on FR back in Jan. 09 comparing to the inauguration crowd.

Go up four post to #12 and here’s the inauguration crowd as seen from satellite:

Over 20,000 came out in Ft. Worth Texas alone.”

Right, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, whose main offices the protesters were marching by, reported it as “...over 1000 people...” and also reported the Washington DC protest as “tens of thousands.”

“All the news that reflects our views...”

That appears to be a shot taken at about the time C-Span finally showed their aerial view, looked just like this.

It was after the event when many had already left.
