Human tissue can be taken for human-animal embryo experiments without consent (UK)

New rules coming into force next month will give scientists working on stem cell research access to samples of blood and tissue collected by NHS hospitals during biopsies and treatments, as well as to giant "tissue banks" which built up stores of material before the legislation was introduced.

Ethics experts, patients' groups and churches described the change as "absolutely frightening" and liable to destroy trust among thousands who donate, whatever their views on the use of hybrid embryos for stem cell research. "Scientists know how hard it would be to get consent for these kinds of experiments – this is an attempt to get around the obstacles".

Author Professor David Jones, director of the Centre for Bioethics and Emerging Technologies at St Mary's University College, London, said: "People may well have ticked a box about medical research in hospital at some point in the past while they were undergoing tests and not even recall it now.

"That tissue could be used

If a seriously wounded but unconscious WWII soldier were to come out of his coma today and look around at the UK’s NHS he'd really be confused about who won the war ~ these guys are definitely showing some butt time to their Nazi predecessors and pushing this sort of thing to the hilt.

Sounds like a medical thriller I read a few years ago, "In the Blood" by Don Donaldson (unfortunately out of print.)

"A survivor of leukemia, Dr. Holly Fisher is ready to resume her life. Her first step: to have a child using eggs that were saved before she underwent the fertility-killing cancer treatment. But to her horror, Holly learns that her eggs have been stolen from the fertility clinic, taken by a man posing as her lawyer and armed with her death certificate. Angry, hurt, and bewildered, Holly vows to track down the person who stole her most precious dream-never realizing that her attempts to make sense out of a mysterious theft will land her in the middle of a scientific and medical nightmare that will put her and countless others in the path of a man willing to destroy the laws of nature - and anyone who opposes him..."

If you haven’t read Michael Crichton’s book, NEXT, you should. Why Patents are allowed, or even issued on genes, DNA and RNA is beyond belief. You cannot patent a natural phenomina - such as a mathematical algorythm or ice.

There are cases set already, where the next step would be to have someone else OWN your DNA, and be legally able to take as many samples as they want, at any time they want - leaving you the same rights as a Guinea Pig. If someone owns the patents on your DNA, they own YOU.

I guess when the government controls your health care, it believes it also has carte blanche to your body as well.

Simple. They should pay big bucks for the use of the tissue.

That’s beside the point. It is the horror of the absolute materialistic worldview that is the foundational belief of the tyrannical state. That individual persons are merely “aspects of matter” to be disposed of and used as deemed necessary.
