STATEN ISLAND, NY, Sept. 11 /Christian Newswire/ -- Leaders of Priests for Life, the largest network of clergy and lay people dedicated to ending abortion, reacted today to statements by a Sianwassee County, Michigan, prosecutor that James Pouillon was killed by a man who was upset at Mr. Pouillon's pro-life activism.

"James Pouillon today joined the approximately 4,000 other victims who will be killed today because of abortion," said Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life.  "The taking of all innocent lives must stop.  I call on the leaders of the so called 'pro-choice' movement to condemn this killing and to consider all of the people who lose their lives to abortion every single day."

"Mr. Pouillon was known as the 'sign guy' because he had the courage to show people what abortion really is," said Janet Morana, Priest for Life's Executive Director.  "This brutal murder will not deter pro-lifers from continuing to expose the horror of what abortion does, not just to the baby who loses his life, but also to the mother who lives with the truth of abortion the rest of her life."

"In the Fifties and Sixties, people lost their lives to secure the civil rights of those victimized by discrimination," added Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  "Now, James Pouillon has lost his life in the civil rights cause of the 21st Century, the struggle to protect the right to life of every single person, born and unborn.  Mr. Pouillon has not died in vain; the struggle will only be renewed because of his courage and sacrifice."

Priests for Life is the nation's largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

I have seen nothing about this since the initial report. Is it definite that he was killed for his protesting?

Yes the guy had a hit list and didn't like the sign guy.I knew a sign guy his name was Hugie.Hugie held signs and memorized the latest prolife news and would repeat to every person as he held his sign.We loved Hugie and I told him I wanted to go to Fatima.Hugie immedially told every one he was going to Fatima. To make a great story short we arrived in Portugal and got off the plane and could not find Hugie.Walked outside and he was holding a sign.I said to his wife Helen-OMGosh he is picketing Portugal.:)He was holding a sign for the bus Hugie is with James Pouillon .Just know it.If you are at the shore in Jersey and see a pro-life fly-over say a little thank you to Hughie.

Great story!

Thanks for the details on Pouillon...I only read a little about his killing (I was away this weekend and the major press doesn’t seem to be covering it anyway) and I didn’t know if they had conclusively determined that he was killed for his sign. It sure seems that he was.
