Rep. Joe Wilson said Sunday that he will not apologize on the House floor for his outburst during President Obama's health care address, even though Democratic leaders have threatened to formally discipline him if he does not.
Wilson noted that he already apologized directly to the White House after shouting, "You lie," to the president during his Wednesday address to a joint session of Congress. The outburst triggered a political firestorm, but Wilson told "FOX News Sunday" that Democrats are just "playing politics" by trying to drag out the issue and force another apology.
"I've apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, the vice president. ... I am not apologizing again," he told "FOX News Sunday."
Wilson said he would "never do something like that again," but continued to defend himself.

Pelosi is a child. A dangerous child.
But, if the dems are voted out in 2010 the republicans will forgive and forget and probably even appoint co-chairs of all the committees.
The idiotic health care bill is going to pass no matter what the GOP does. The question is whether the GOP is going to use it as an opportunity to position themselves for a challenge to the Dems in 2010, or simply cower in fear. Wilson prefers the former, I think.

Here is what Wilson should say: “I apologize for my breach of decorum.” Then launch into an explanation of how what zero said was untrue. Followed by: “While my outburst may have been inappropriate, the fact remains ....... HE LIED!!!”

A class act he is not, but South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson's boorish behavior during President Obama's speech on health reform more than earned him his 15 minutes of infamy.
It is understandable that he chose - or as some suggested, was told - to bellow "You lie!" when the President was explaining for the umpteenth time that undocumented immigrants would not be covered under health care legislation. After all, Wilson's extreme anti-immigrant positions are well known.
His outburst, for which he has half-heartedly apologized, not only exposed Wilson for the uncouth nativist he is, but made clear that immigration is still very much one of the Republican Party's war horses.
"Congressman Joe Wilson's outburst is not only a massive breach of decorum," said Frank Sharry, executive director of America's Voice, "but the latest example of how race-baiting and immigrant bashing have become standard fare for hard-right elements of the Republican Party."
One has to wonder if Wilson and his ilk are intent on committing political suicide - and in the process taking down with them the entire GOP - or if their prejudices are so deep that they just cannot help themselves.
Many believe that Wilson's outburst was planned to distract from the President's speech. If it was, the plan worked like a charm. Shamefully, media coverage of Obama's message became a sidebar to Wilson's disgusting show of coarseness.
Yet, the plan could turn out to be no more than a pyrrhic victory.
Joe Wilson has no need to consider additional apologies.
I read now that the Democratic leadership is seeking a public apology from Wilson to his colleagues on the House floor.
Here is what I think the democrats deserve and openly and loudly should seek. They should demand that Wilson and Wilson's supporters prove his assertion that Obama lied. From what I have read in HR3200 that should be relatively easy to do.
Not all (voting) people are as supid as she thinks.

With the internet, talk radio and FOX news the days of being so defensive worrying about false issues manufactured by the Drive-Bys is over.
The real issue is the idiotic health care bill and as Joe Wilson pointed out the lying president.
If we can't successfully push those issues using the new media then we might as well give up.
