Just on Fox. North Korea is going ahead full-bore with its fission bomb program, this time to detonate a U238 bomb. The first two used Plutonium. They went out of their way to tell Obama to pound sand first. Another foreign policy triumph from The Most Open and Honest Administration in American History.
To cave in would be a prelude to North Korean aggression.
Didn’t they already cave the other day and agree to one-on-one talks? I thought that’s what NK wanted... ;-)
I think the Obama Administration will see the third use of nuclear weapons in anger.
Makes one kinda wonder why they went with Pu bombs first, and now this...
If they wanted a guaranteed, no-way-to-bungle-it bomb that no one could downplay or minimize, they would have gone with a enriched Uranium, gun-and-target design. Guaranteed to work, just as the bomb we dropped on Hiroshima did.
Instead, they popped off two Pu designs that the west is still arguing over whether they were bombs or fizzles.
Gee, one wonders how they lost so much respect for us. What happened?
I would say the odds are 50/50 that 0bama will ask Pyongyang for their terms of surrender.
Iran will follow that, and Obama will worry about the sugar content in sodas.
Obama already caved in to the North Korean pukes. He’s got nothing left in his arsenal with which to negotiate.
The Boston Police are stupid.
Air Force One should buzz the Manhattan skyline anytime he wants it to.
The taxpayer should finance his frequent, random vacations (Grand Canyon, NYC "date night," etc...)
Foreign terrorists should be entitled to US Constitutional rights and protections, and are thus due a series of endless trials and freedoms...
Etc, etc, etc...
They don’t care what Obama wants?
What a coincidence! Obama doesn’t care what his own countrymen want.
What goes around comes around.
There is no “U238” bomb. It works on Uranium significantly enriched in its U235 content.
Just a point of technical info.
A crisis. Time for more diplomatic bi-lateral talks, intensive negotiations, tripartite agreements, regional discussions, UN resolutions, etc. /s
Isn’t 238 used in the secondary of an H-Bomb?
I’m not sure and too lazy to find out at this moment.
Well, that’s one thing North Korea and I can agree on: I don’t care what Obama wants either.
Much to my amazement, I find myself in total agreement with the North Korean government (on that sentiment, only)...
Probably took them longer to enrich the Uranium than produce the Plutonium.
Anyway, a Uranium Gun bomb is pretty simple and they’ll gurantee themselves a decent 15 KT explosion - detonating Plutonium bombs is much more complicated and apparently, didn’t quite work with their first two bombs.
There really isn’t much future in a Uranium gun design because (as far as I can tell) you can’t really weaponize it small enough to fit in a missile warhead.
