Crist's popularity as governor doesn't always extend to members of his own Republican Party, and that might make him vulnerable as he runs for U.S. Senate.
BY ADAM C. SMITH
Charlie Crist is swimming in campaign money, and polls consistently show him to be among the most popular politicians in America.
But something ominous and unpredictable is brewing in Florida, and a growing number of Republicans are starting to consider the unthinkable: the people's governor could lose his campaign for U.S. Senate.
"It's rare that I talk to anyone that's got a good thing to say about the governor right now. It's hard to find a real Charlie Crist ally," said former state Republican Chairman Tom Slade.

Paging Marco Rubio...Marco Rubio please come to front desk.
Know some political types from FL that don’t think in the end he is going to run for Senator. His choice of LeMieux for Senator made a whole group of politicos extremely angry.
We have the same problem in Illinois with Mark Kirk, probably the most left wing Republican in the House of Reps and is getting support from many conservative Congressman like John Shimkus and Peter Roskam.
They may vote conservative and talk conservatism fairly good but they fall into this trap of backing the RINO’s in primaries because the media and the establishment say their the only ones that can win.
Crist is set to lose to Rubio. Whoever is backing Crist might want to think about the opposition in Florida to the guy. I think half of the Republicans in the state don’t have much positive to say about the guy. That would be a strong indicator to look over at Rubio.
He could possibly lose in the primary. Could he pull a Lieberman if he loses?
Yep...Crist backs Obama’s stimulus plan and his Cap and Trade. He can flip flop all he wants.
He has to live with his executive orders and BS legislation he pushed through.

I'm sure he would. Even if he switched Democrat (and not independent) he would have a good shot because they have absolutely no one with any kind of name recognition that has a decent shot.
Abort the Orange Menace.
God I hope so. Charlie Suntan is a disaster here in Florida. This guy has no charisma or charm. I thought Jeb Bush was a very good governor. No comparison to this current clown.
I think people have seen that Crist is no fiscal conservative but just another tax and spend politician. Rubio can fit the bill of a limited government kind of guy.
He’s going to run for VP under Obama in 2012. Just my guess
A lot of people have been upset about the LeMieux nepotism from what I’ve seen.
But I haven’t seen the Rubio campaign take advantage of the gift yet.
So if the Rubio campaign is gonna run it’s campaign modeled after McCain’s, then what’s gonna happen?
Not legal in Florida. Democrat candidate, Republican candidate and independent candidates are certified on the same day next September.
1 way to go DOWN....
I tried to talk with Rubio on Saturday, as he was a speaker at the Lakeland Tea Party, but was unable to catch up with him. I wanted to discuss his stance on amnesty of illegals. That seems to be one question he’s not answered...at least to my satisfaction.
Crist gladly accepted a truckload of stimulus money from Ozero and Crist had his lips all over Ozero’s magic negro ass.
I will work against any Crist run.
Damned RINO turd opportunist, NO better than the P.O.S. Martinez.
A lot of folks disliked Jeb cause of his last name but he did an excellent job.
No new govt. programs, kept taxes in check and handled Hurricanes very well.
Crist? Had a nice wedding to cover for his homosexuality. And went in big time for federal govt. monies.
True, That is what I am waiting to see before I back Rubio.
Is he for amnesty for 20 million illegals who will bring in another 80 million of their unwashed, uneducated relatives.
