ACORN Sting Filmmaker May Face State Charges (amazing, this really is now a fascist nation)

James O'Keefe's foray into filmmaking may cost him a few years in the slammer.

O'Keefe and fellow conservative activist/budding investigative journalist Hannah Giles were the ones who dressed up like a pimp and a prostitute, respectively (or not), and went to the offices of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) in D.C. and Baltimore looking for advice on how to buy a house.

The resulting video caused quite a commotion and resulted in the firing of four ACORN employees, as well as other repercussions for those who support the organization.

In Maryland, it's against the law to tape a person without their prior permission. It's also illegal to "willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio," Baltimore City State Attorney Patricia Jessamy said in a statement released late Friday.

She added: "The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to five years."

The Baltimore City State Attorney's Office is investigating the matter.

“It is a misdemeanor to use a hidden camera in a bathroom or dressing room. It is also a misdemeanor to use a hidden camera on private property “for purposes of conducting deliberate, surreptitious observation of a person inside the private residence,” or in a private place with “prurient intent.” Md. Crim. Law §§ 3-901, -902, -903.”

So in Maryland it is a misdemeanor to be a pervert, but a felony to investigate corrupt officials!

As a native who lives 15 mi away, I am well aware of Patricia Jessamy. Thanks anyway. ;-)

It was just a quip about the “law” itself.

If the RNC had any brains, they could easily run a commercial with these points so all Americans could see what Obama really stads for, as ACORN=Obama.

But alas, we get the same old same old.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press;
or the right of the people peaceably to assemble,
and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It took place in a public office, paid for, in part or whole, with US tax dollars.

The duo were operating as members of the media. There is no official credential-issuing agency in Maryland dictating who IS or IS NOT members of the Media of which I'm aware.

Yes I agree - let Baltimore try that bullsh*t. Even the agenda-driven ACLU should be happy to pounce on that one!

Implied consent - because “we” voted for the morons who voted for it in Assembly....

Looks like they’re trying to scare them out of releasing any MORE tapes.

“Hey kids, just hand over the rest of your videos and these charges’ll go away.”

And Obama would be smart to ask her NOT to prosecute!

If it's contingent on his intelligence, they're DOOMED.

I bet a Diet Coke this was racially motivated by a black city attorney.

It smacks of the same sort of double standard and "racial justice" crap as this mess.

Oh, no, those are from the goobermint. For some reason, these guys think the goobermint works under FEWER rather than MORE restrictions than those of us with jobs do.

The tea parties weren’t for nothing. 9/12 was just the beginning. I say local conservatives protest this with a large presence.

I remember this Maryland law from the Clinton era involving Lewinsky and Tripp. This law gives cover for the real law breakers.

I will have a check in the mail the instant they decide to prosecute these two, and for a heftier sum than I donated to the RNC last election I might add.

These two have more guts than 99% of republicans in Washington right now.

It was just a quip about the “law” itself.

I just emailed both my state senator and delegate (both pubbies) stating the hypocrisy of this law. Will let you know if I hear back from them.

Now, if we could get to some dems about this, with the huge outpouring in DC yesterday, it may get some traction in Annapolis in January. The winds are shifting ....

Perhaps that is only wishful thinking ....

The most important thing is not to sink to their level.

Ah, no, the most important thing to stop these commies dead in their invertebrate, slime-filled tracks.

In order to do that, I am willing to burrow deep beneath their level, and attack them from below.

This isn't some debate with men of good intent who simply differ on details. This is a literal fight for physical survival against a philosophy which will grind your bones to make their bread, and pat themselves on the back for both reducing the human burden on Mother Earth, and recycling in one fell swoop.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

I might be wrong. But there are usually rules specifically designed to protect journalists in situations like this. Case law. Example, when Hannity stepped through the hole in the border fence to demonstrate on his show how easy Mexicans were crossing in, you can’t prosecute him for immigration violations.

Legitimate journalists exposing such corruption wil be protected by law, but they will need an extrememly aggressive defense fund. This is prosecution is posturing by some local idiot Obama type.
