If Mark Sanford will be stepping down from the governor's office, I propose that we subnit Joe Wilson's name for Governor. He can join with other patriotic governors to get the Federal government out of the lives of the sovereign States.

Back in my U.S. Air Force days, the NCO Club (at least on my base, anyway) held a monthly semi-formal “dining in” dinner. (I really respect and pity you poor guys who had to sleep in the mud while we had lobster. Go Air Force!)
Some well-known wiseguy in the squadron would be selected for the role of “Mister Vice” — the official heckler for the event. Mister Vice could say damn near anything from the back of the room without fear of retribution during the event.
This government could sure use a full-time heckler. The outpouring of support for Rep. Wilson’s outburst suggests he said something that a lot of other people wished they could have said. And the vitriol dumped on him for saying it tells me that he hit a nerve by doing so.
We need a heckler.
