A South Carolina deputy coroner say a man who disappeared shortly after losing his job starved to death.
Multiple media outlets reported that the body of 39-year-old David Scott Condon was found in a tent near Lake Hartwell on Saturday night. Anderson County Deputy Coroner Charlie Boseman says Condon died of malnutrition and pneumonia. He had been dead less than 24 hours when he was found.
Authorities say a friend reported Condon missing Aug. 1 and a search was conducted to find him. Boaters spotted the tent Saturday afternoon and discovered his body.

It might have been wise to go to any street corner and ask for a few dollars for some twinkies.
Something more is going on here. Drugs, mental illness, injury preventing movement — something.

Impossible to die of starvation in America unless you want to.

Lots of malnourished people running around. I’m guessing that the pneumonia got him.

You can go to almost any church and they’ll help you out. I agree with you, that there’s something more to this story.

Maybe he just decided it was time to wake up from the dream?

Maybe he was so sick of seeing Obama on TV, starvation was preferable.

How does someone starve to death? He could have gotten food stamps and stuff. There are churches that give away food and homeless shelters and soup kitchens.
I bet there is much more to this.

If he decided to wake up from the dream, he still would have been able to live off that blue pill for another day.

Impossible to die of starvation in America unless you want to.No kidding.
Grocery store dumpsters if nothing else. The amount of 'out-of-date' food tossed every day is staggering.
I'm guessing the pneumonia is the primary cause.

Or maybe he was too proud for handouts... Americans of good will set up systems to help people like this man - a good person who fell on hard times. But the usual social parasites debased the programs and turned them into something honest people felt shame dealing with... in fact it should be the other way around. A man like this should have felt he had worked his whole life - and given - and it was OK for him to "take". Totally OK. But he didn't feel that way - and I'm saddened. Sad that all the bums and drug addicts and professional "beggers" and kept the people we want to help from getting help.
If the only people our tax dollars help are the angry dependent, then stop all the funding...

Something more is going on here. Drugs, mental illness, injury preventing movement something. Close! He was on anti seizure and depression medications. Someone at Kos said if he had Obamacare he would still be alive. (He couldn't afford his meds). Perhaps he wanted to die. We have social services that would have given him his meds, so that excuse is a copout. I think he was just "tired".

The amount of 'out-of-date' food tossed every day is staggering. I've heard lots of stores and restaurants would gladly donate such to soup kitchens -- but their lawyers warn them about liability should anyone get sick or have an allergic reaction.

One mental illness is depression where you feel you have nothing to live for anymore. Some people, sadly, have nothing but “success” and work to live for and when they lose that, they have nothing left.

"Impossible to die of starvation in America unless you want to." Absolutely true. There exist myriad resources for homeless people to find shelter and a hot meal, they simply have to have the desire to seek it out.
