President Obamas speech to Congress Wednesday night has provided at least a short-term boost in support for the health care reform plan that he and congressional Democrats have proposed. But the bounce is partisan in nature, with the increase in support coming entirely from those in the presidents own party.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national tracking survey shows that 46% favor the plan and 51% are opposed. The survey was conducted on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The previous two-day sample, conducted Tuesday and Wednesday nights, found that 44% favored the plan while 53% were opposed.
The Thursday night portion of the current survey is the first based entirely upon interviews conducted following the presidents speech to Congress. That data finds that the number who support and oppose the legislation are essentially even. Rasmussen Reports will be tracking support for the proposals on a daily basis over the next several days and will release new updates each morning at 9 EDT.
Another measure of the speech's impact will be found in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll. Early indications are that Obama also received a modest personal bounce in his approval ratings.

An unprecedented appearance before a Joint Session. 36 million people watch. And support only bounced 2 points.
Paging dead cat pic
so what is his approval number today?
This is nothing. Within the MoE. Obama got no traction on his “speech”.
The Kenyan is getting bad reviews and fact checked to to death.
ObamaCare is dying from a thousand cuts.
Nuclear option here we come. 51-49 government health care.
2 points from his own Kool Aid drinkers? Wow! The guy is pathetic! :-)
That’s good to see. I didn’t think it was an effective speech, but ya never know. It was angry and confrontational, and nothing new. I suspect it was merely an attempt to shore up their loony base, since that’s about all they have left. When this bill goes down in flames, at least their wacko fans will believe they went down fighting and gives them more ridiculous talking points to post all over internet message boards about the stupid Republicans and evil corporations.
And he knew it which is why he was all over TV the next day.
I didn’t think he’d get much traction, but this is even less than I thought!
I’ve come to the conclusion that 0bama has over-exposed himself. People are tired of the continuous election campaign. In fact, I think the American people in general don’t give a $*** about speeches. They want results and action.
Hence all of them on tv yesterday, and also the extended attacks on Joe the Congressman. Trying to change the topic.
2 measly points LOL! Good to hear!
so what is his approval number today?
+++++++++++++++
The strongly approve disapprove can move even more than the overall approve numbers, as only 70% of the sample size gives the ‘strongly’ answers. Therefore, in my view, with a MoE of say 3.5% overall, you’re probably looking at 4.5% within those categories.
We’ve seen his strongly disapprove gap anywhere from 6 to 14 in the past 45 days and today 5. The important thing is still the trend downward and the negative polling re: the HR3200 debacle bill. IMHO.
which is why he was all over TV the next day.
++++++++++++++++
After his ‘blitz’ and people realize he’s said NOTHING new with no new details (they don’t want the public to really know what’s in the bill - have you noticed that at the town meetings (I sure have!) - his overall and health specific numbers will either stay or sink down again.
Obama said it himself: “The time for games is over”. He was right. He should stop playing his silly socialist games and try to actually do something that is constructive.
But that’s like telling a dog not smell another dogs rear end. Simply can’t be done.
Ya know what bothers me the most, The Marxist Onada provides bushels of attack opportunities every day. Except for Gov. Palin I don’t see any attempt to exploit them by other so-called conservatives—let alone RINOs.
We gotta a problem here boys and girls.
Another headline that should have been writtn using the same poll findings:
After Last-Ditch Speech: Majority Still Opposes Obama’s Health Care Plan
They want results and action.
++++++++++++++
But NOT this changy, hopey, socialist, communist don’t mind reading the bills and don’t you read the bills and respond action.
Barry Zero is starting to seriously annoy regular folks. What an empty suit.
