As the debate on health care in the U.S. continues, President Obama detailed his vision for health insurance reform in his second address to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday September 9, 2009.
The address was carried live from 8:00PM to approximately 9:06PM on 10 television networks. The sum of average audience for those networks was 32,111,596 viewers.
The networks carrying the press conference were ABC, CBS, NBC, Univision, Telemundo, BET, CNBC, CNN, FOX News Channel, and MSNBC.
Viewership to last night’s address was down 38.6% from President Obama’s first address to a joint session of Congress on February 24, which aired from approximately 9:00PM to 10:30PM.

Going forward....I will turn OFF my television EVERY time Obama takes this country hostage with yet another speech. It’s becoming almost a daily thing and IMO the frequency IN AND OF ITSELF is part of their agenda!

I watched it. I come from a long line of people who scream at lying politicians on television (or radio). It’s cathartic.
I imagine a lot of people went over to TCM like I did to watch Robert Montgomery and Claude Rains in 1941’s, “Here Comes Mr. Jordan.” That would probably account for Bammie’s dismal numbers.
Does anyone know if BET carried the Republican response as well?

There’s over 300M people in the country. Considering the number of kids and others who wouldn’t count, there’s a potential audience of at least 200M. That means Obama got a grand total of about 15% of the audience. Wow, what a charismatic Messiah we have!

I wonder if those are the 30 million that are uninsured. Or is it 46.3 million or 12 million? Screw it, it doesn’t matter — let’s destroy the system, wreck the economy and socialize healthcare!

I tuned in and tuned out just before and after the shot of the grieving Kennedys and Biden’s fake tear wipe.
CNN reports that 150% of those polled thought the speech was very good.
