Chicago Suffers Unusually Cold Weather; Chicago Tribune Warns of Global Warming

If...could...would.

That pretty much sums up the "scientific" analysis in a Chicago Tribune story warning of the terrible warming the Windy City will be enduring in the not too distant future. Never mind that Chicago has been experiencing much colder than normal weather this year as your humble correspondent noted last June when quoting the WGN Weather Center blog:

The cloudy, chilly and rainy open to June here has been the talk of the town. So far this June is running more than 12 degrees cooler than last year, and the clouds, rain and chilly lake winds have been persistent. The average temperature at O'Hare International Airport through Friday has been only 59.5 degrees: nearly 7 degrees below normal and the coldest since records there began 50 years ago.

Chicago also had the longest spell of sub-80 degree temperatures in 124 years this summer but Chicago Tribune warns of drastic warming of that city.

Yep, it’s been unusually cool here this summer.

Now you know why the Tribune’s broke.

We had a local (Rockford, IL) meteorologist as speaker at our Kiwanis breakfast this a.m. He’s a familiar face who actually is a Rochelle native. I’d say he’s not a GW truther by any means. He stated that current temps. in Northern Illinois have been caused by a cold front coming down from Western Canada, similar to situations in decades past. He expects it to continue through the Fall. We’ve actually had the coldest July in our area’s history, and August may prove to be a record as well.

He also said that should El Nino hit later this Fall, patters for this situation have almost always meant a warmer core Winter (January-February) with less snow. I guess we’ll see.

My wife thought I had finally cracked last Spring when I spent $150 on E-bay to buy a (slightly) used snowplow attachment that fit the front of my trusty old 10 HP Troybilt Horse roto-tiller. But after the fruitless shoveling my neighbor and I attempted last December when we were buried the entire week before Christmas convinced me it was time for some heavy artillery. With the plow on it, the tiller weighs well over 400 pounds and if it digs into snow like it does good topsoil, it’s virtually unstoppable.

This year, my Horse will be in the garage, freshly serviced, and full of gas with the snowplow attached in time for Thanksgiving on the outside chance that we’ll see some early “climate change” up this way. I’m not taking any chances this year, and that $150 I spent earlier this Spring might turn out to be one of the better investments I’ve made all year...

I may hang sleigh bells on it too, just in case...

Hope you have a great conference.

As for us, Saturday & Sunday I’ll be working as usual, Sunday Julie & I are ushers at church, and it’s my birthday. Then, what little time we have together late afternoon will be spent cooking a couple fine T-bones on the grill, enjoying an excellent adult beverage, and taking our son’s call from LV. After that I intend to poop out real quick.

Oh, that reminds me, I have to run to the butcher tomorrow for the T-Bones. PJ, thanks for the reminder.

That's Chicago, We're 80 miles West and all that suction left a cold front that stalled over us.

Remember that secret market from last year when I thought I made some great deals? Well, my couponing skills have grown quite a bit since then. Today I scored bigtime in a regular supermarket. I bought 10 TGI Fridays finger food snacks, two bottles of orange soda, a half gallon of orange juice, and a dozen extra large eggs. Total cost? 26 cents. You read that right, 26 cents.

I'm planning on purchasing over a thousand bucks worth of food this week for only about 20 dollars. Too bad your wife doesn't work down here in her emergency relief work since I am giving most of the food away. In my case to my neighbors. Mainly the finger food. The T-bone steaks and beer I keep.

Check my post about T-bones and coupons. Today I scored bigtime on food purchases and will really hit it hard for the rest of the week. Stocking up on T-bones, beer, OJ, and non-food items like A/C filters and whatever else I can think of. With scientific couponing it costs me almost nothing. Planning on buying about a thousand bucks worth of stuff for only around 20 bucks.

Healthcare reform ain’t about healthcare, it’s about socialism and union paybacks.

Immigration reform is not about reform. it’s about amnesty and chain migration and creating socialist voters.

Globull Warming BS, ain’t about the environment, it’s about controlling people and killing business.
